The Beacon of The Triad Bay

The Lighthouse of Seaquest

The Beacon of The Triad Bay is a lighthouse, standing on a small cliff rise, in the easternmost part of Seaquest, near The Triad Bay. The base is wide and grows narrower up until halfway up, where it continues in a cylindrical shape. The top is open, but fenced off, and has a lantern room in the middle.
Including the lantern room, the lighthouse is roughly thirty meters tall.
A small house is built into the base, originally intended as living space for the operators of the lighthouse, and storage for wood and supplies.

Upgrades

Originally there was no lantern room on top of the lighthouse, instead, there was a large fireplace for burning wood. The fire required constant attention at night and large amounts of wood, making it both expensive and labor-intensive.
Yosaline Gravelfoot, a dwarven inventor, came up with an idea to save both wood and labor, involving a bent mirror, and triad amanita, a highly luminescent underwater mushroom, with high longevity.
The lamp tower is a large glass tank, filled with saltwater. The bottom is filled with rocks of various sizes, filled with algae, which makes a good environment for the triad amanita.
The mushrooms glow, are reflected in the bent mirror, which sends the light towards the ocean. Although the result isn't as bright as a fireplace it was deemed adequate for ships to navigate by in the bay. Additionally, it's a lot cheaper and easier to maintain. Only the saltwater needs to be replaced occasionally, which is done by replacing a few buckets worth of water on a daily basis.

Purpose / Function

Before the lighthouse was upgraded, the house at the base was inhabited by the family operating the lighthouse.
After the upgrades, minimal care was required, and eventually, the The Privateers of Light took over responsibility and turned the lighthouse into their headquarters.
The privateers needed a watchtower, to keep track of the ships coming and going, but it also served as a good vantage point over the city.
The Beacon of The Triad Bay is not only a beacon of light that ships navigate by at night. but also serves as a symbol of The Light.
The unique light produced from the triad amanita, sends a light green beam towards the ocean, making it easily distinguishable from other lighthouses, and has earned it the nickname 'The Green Light' among sailors.

Alterations

The house was expanded, with a few rooms, to accommodate the guards, as well as a storage room and small office space.
The interior of the lighthouse was also modified, with several floors, adding additional living- and storage space to the building.
The railing at the top of the lighthouse was widened, heightened, and reinforced to provide better cover, making it double as a watchtower.

Architecture

The Beacon of The Triad Bay is made mostly of stone, with wooden support for doors and windows. When The Privateers of Light took over the entire lighthouse, including the house at the base, was whitewashed to give it a more suitable look to fit its role as a beacon of The Light.
