Duhaum's Blossom Extract

"It is my opinion rather ironic that a deity associated so closely to death is the source of a flower that helps a man endure the pain when life makes him at his most vulunerable."
Clímaco Lefèvre
Duhaum's Blossom has always been associated with healing within folk tales, although thanks to alchemy, it is slowly being discovered that these healing properties aren't just mythical.

Circumstances

As of recent, the Universitas Pulchra Virgo of Cuerero has been putting in great effort to reclaim its good name after decades of decline and mediocrity. Thanks to this, there has been a substantial amount of Fadriquian Marks placed into the university's departments on alchemical research. They have also been pushing for their scholars in these departments to provide revelations of high note as a sign of their prestige.

The Inventor, Loïc Abascal

Professor Loïc Abascal, while well-known within the academic sphere, is an elusive figure. He spends most of his days within his laboratory, rarely leaving, if he ever does. Many on campus will place bets on seeing him outside of their scarce lessons with him, of which most of them lose. While there are many detractors to his hermit-like lifestyle, many praise his dedication to the field, with the added aside that he'd should leave his laboratory for a while and take more breaks when working and teaching.

In one of his many days' long sessions, he was studying the true effect of The Duhaum's Lily within alchemical mixtures as, up to this point, there had never been no clear explanation besides those of folk tales.

When does Professor Abascal ever leave his labatory? He does, I know he does. I've seen him once outside of it by personal choice. Otherwise, only the spirits truly know.

The Flower

The flower is in ripe supply in the wild, espically down in the more tropical south. But due to demand, it is growing to be more scarce thanks to being bought up in bulk by organisations such as the University and Villia Antasi Noi who've took a larger interest thanks to the discovery.

Thanks to the flower availability, it has been commonly used as an antidote for certain afflictions and maladies, and is an especially excellent pain killer. However, as folk medicine is often unreliable, most academics consider it a 'new discovery'.

The Extracted Form

As a product, the extract is only available to merchant and upper classes because of its cost, even if that cost is inflated as most could make it. Those who buy it are more paying for the utility and the nicer smell as the regular blossom extract is rather pungent in smell.

“If you have the time, and most who buy it do, plus their servants, why buy the extract for 200 or so marks? Why would you pay for a slightly less intense smell?”

Author's Notes

Honestly, this is my weakest article so far of Summercamp. If I have the oppurntunity, I will come back to this before the end of the month. I haven't got into its more detailed parts (what it does, etc) so much as currently I feel inept to cover such topics. However, possibly these will be addtions in the mean time.

Interesting - I'm curious to see what details you will add :D   Has it had much impact on society? Or is that coming?

I love all the little details about the university and its politics and social life. And I really love you're drawing of the flower, it just looks so pretty ❤   I don't think you've even hinted at what the flower actually heal? Is it maybe having wide effects like anti inflammation?
