The Budding Brew

"It is so cruel that one should have to die to save dozens. No one should have to endure the pain and sorrow brought by brewing a cure with a bud from your loved one's fresh corpse." - Thalia Willowroot
Also known as the "Vernal Tonic," this curing potion is given to those who have been diagnosed with Autumn Cough. This is the only known cure and has a gruesome but necessary list of ingredients. Once administered, this brew will leave the affected immune for life.   Ingredients needed to craft The Budding Brew:
  • Three stems of Ambermallow with thorns removed
  • The petals of an Everrose flower ground into fine dust
  • Seventeen berries from a Foeniculum bush (Blue, not red) crushed for their juice
  • A fresh bud from a Corpse Tree intact and not yet in bloom
Mix all of these ingredients into a pot of boiling water lit by a magical flame for eleven hours. The water will boil away, leaving a paste at the bottom of the pot. Take this paste and mix it with cool water in a flask or other drinking vessel. After stirring, it is ready for consumption.

Purpose

Printed on inexpensive paper this recipe is handed out en mass to travelers and citizens to educate them on "How-to" create a tonic to cure an overwhelmingly dangerous disease. Originally created by the brilliant Druid, and healer, Thalia Willowroot after the death of her mate by the previously incurable Autumn Cough. If administered properly a batch of Budding Brew can cure many patients and give them seemingly life long immunity to this horrible disease.

Ooof - that's some rough cures there. Very nice. :)   Does it need to be a magical flame? Is there some reason or logic to it (or do people just believe that, even though the truth might be different)?   Good luck on the rest of summer camp :D

It "needs" to be magical I think is a common belief and people don't want to risk changing that since the materials are so gruesome to acquire to waste. Thanks for commenting! You too Qurilion!
