Historical Overview
Armada Brewing is one of the oldest of The Promenade's distillery companies. Founded early in its history, Armada Brewing was originally a small company serving local fishermen and whalers. However, over time, the Firewater district consolidated under two distilleries, Armada and their competitors, the Dark Oak Distilling Company. Competition was fierce, and Armada Brewing spawned the Brewery St. Boys, a gang which dominated the western half of Firewater. Competition with Dark Oak Distilling's gang, the Hogs, came to a sudden end when they were forced to band together against the encroaching Cutlass Crew. Despite this groundbreaking alliance, they were defeated and forcibly pacified as constituent gangs of the Cutlasses. To their eventual benefit, however, this peace gave Armada Brewing a monopoly over sales to nautical clients, such as whaling ships, while their former competitors received land-based establishments as clients. From this point on, Firewater, which already gave its name to the district, became the iconic drink of the whaling industry, immortalized as a cultural touchstone, and best-known from the shanty Firewater."Putting a Fire in Your Belly Since Before the Crossing Over"
