Sodium

When conjuring Sodium, caution must be taked to not charge it with mana unless that it the intention. Similarly to elements like Hydrogen, elemental Sodium converts mana directly into thermal energy when charged with mana. It will quickly react with the surrounding air as well as any water in the air, generating a bright yellow flame, as well as creating large amounts of Sodium Hydroxide.

Sodium is often conjured in small amounts by advanced mages when casting Fire Magic. In this form, fire magic can be more effective when it's raining, and it is explosive when interacting with Ice Magic, often rendering the ice magic ineffective.

The chemical compound Sodium Hydroxide can also be conjured by experienced mages. It is conjured with water to create acid sprays, melting skin and causing severe burns. Criminals and professional executioners also use it to dispose of bodies, dissolving corpses into a brown colored liquid that is dumped into the sea...or sometimes turned into soap.

Speaking of Soap, this material is made of oil, water, and sodium hydroxide. Some mages have figured out a way to charge soap with mana, often by adding small amounts of various crystals to it. The fat used in these magic soaps often come from various primordial beasts including drakes and dragons, adding some amount of aether to the mix. Provided you have the time to take a bath and rub it all over your body, it is an extremely effective way of placing enchantments on yourself for several days at a time, even more so than drinking magic potions.

Sodium is one of the elements that makes up the mineral Halite, also known as Salt, the other element being Chlorine. Aside from its use in cooking almost everything and preserving many different types of foods, salt can also be easily charged with every type of mana. The Mana will dissipate after a year or two in larger crystals. Because of this, halite crystals make good all purpose Mana Batteries in dry climates. In more humid climates, the presence of moisture will degrade the crystals over time.

Salt is often crushed into a fine powder, dissolved in water, and then charged with mana. Though the mana is less stable in this form, this briny solution forms the basis of almost all Potions. Charged salt allows the mana to be easily absorbed throughout the body after consumption. Often catalytic agents are added to stabilize the mana charge. A simple Health Potion for example usually adds fruits or mushrooms to stabilize the life magic. Nighshade can stabilize death magic. Other ingredients stabilize different mana types in different amounts.
