Devil

Devils are born with a mortal concept - one that can’t be easily explained by science, such as emotions or ideas for example - buried deep in them that they search for. Most end up settling for a lesser version, such as a Succubus settling for lust instead of love, and even more fall prey to evil and the darker nature of emotions. However, unlike demons, Devils crave experiences and fulfillment of their concept, for good or ill.   Generally speaking, the more “human” a Devil is treated, the more “human” they become, and the opposite holds true as well. The more they are treated like a demon or a monster, the more they become it, becoming intelligent and twisted monsters who delight in evil and suffering.   Devils can manifest Hellfire, an abyssal fire that hungers to burn and consume, and both are highly resistant to normal weapons. Devils, once brought to the mortal realm, are fully accepted by the World and as such do not require any anchors to stay in the world, though they must still abide by any contracts. Once a contract is complete, however, they are not forced back to the Abyss unless the contact specifically states that they must return.   Devils can have offspring, though it is fairly rare due to their psychology and overall rarity on mortal Realms. Offspring of a devil will be able to wield Hellfire like their parent, though not quite at the same level, and also will have the weakness to Light damage. Interestingly enough, Holy damage does not inherently deal increased damage to them, suggesting that Holy damage looks more to the Soul rather than a genetic code.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Devils typically have a humanoid shape, though this is due to the fact that most mortals have a humanoid shape. On Realms that have non-humanoid mortals, the devils will vaguely mimic that form. In addition to humanoid features, they usually have red, purple, or orange eyes, horns, and a tail. They can also have different colored skin, such as red, grey, or another similar color. Devils bleed a bronze colored blood, and half-devils bleed a mix of bronze colored blood and their non-devil parent's blood color.

Genetics and Reproduction

Devils have not been observed to be able to successfully procreate with other devils, though it is unknown exactly why this is the case.   Devils are, in theory, genetically compatible with almost any species, provided that they are the same basic relative shape. Humanoid devils can breed with any humanoid for example. Gestation typically is 9 months, and barring any rare occurrences, the child will be a half-Devil. That child will inherit the parent devil's Hellfire as well as Light sensitivity. It has been observed that newborn half-devils' horns or other features that could harm the mother are soft and somewhat pliable, minimizing the risk to the birthing parent.   From a reproduction standpoint, Devils seem to possess the same erogenous zones as humans, along with additional ones along the base of their tails (if they have one).

Growth Rate & Stages

While the growth rate of pure-blooded devils is objectively speaking unknown, it has been observed that newly summoned devils have a strange sort of innocence that can - and sadly usually is - exploited and manipulated.   Half-Devils on the other hand, grow at the same rate physically as their non-devil parent's species, but they are a bit smarter and a bit more charismatic for their age. However, it must be stressed that they are, for all intents and purposes, just like any other child, teen, and adult.

Ecology and Habitats

Devils have been observed in a wide verity of environments, but generally speaking, they are most comfortable in the habitable ranges of normal humanoids.   Half-Devils favor their non-devil parent as far as environmental comfort.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Devils and half-devils generally prefer cooked food, and unless a specific type of food is infused with Light, they can have a varied diet as well as tastes just like any other mortal.

Biological Cycle

For the most part, it has been observed that it greatly depends on the devil sub-species, but generally speaking, devils follow the same biological urges and other things as humanoids, with one exception. Pure-blooded devils are biologically immortal, and as such, do not suffer from age related degradation or biological changes like mortals do.   Half-devils seem to follow the non-devil parent's biological changes, only it is enhanced. For example, if the non-devil species goes into heat normally, then they would feel said heat doubly so. However, it seems that half-devils live about twice as long as the normal lifespan of their non-devil parent, and as such, all biological changes due to age should be calculated as such with the increased lifespan in mind.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Devils have roughly double the average human's senses, but their real talent lies in being able to perceive the hearts of mortals. While this ability is somewhat abstract, devils have described it as being able to foresee the true nature of the mortal, somewhat like an abstract Third Eye.
