The Continent

The landmass of early Visctheria was one continent, unnamed and unreferenced, for it was all the mortals of Visctheria knew. Millions called this land home, and thousands were killed when it was shattered into pieces. None living remember the time of the Continent, save the Gods that once called this land their own.

The Continent

The Continent of Visctheria was a massive piece of land that covered most of the globe, allowing for easy travel and discovery for the first five thousand years of Visctherian history. Three major kingdoms held the largest parts of land, and three cities were owned by the Visctherian Pantheon.

Kingdoms

The kingdoms of the Continent developed slowly over the five thousand years of the Deific Age,

Mekalia

Mekalia would one day become Meskaovania and the Southern Colonies, and was the most aggressive of the three kingdoms. Constantly vying for land and power, Mekalia spent much of its time controlling trade lines and growing armies, something that gave the future countries it would form a large advantage. The kingdom rose in power and regard throughout the Deific Age, leading to a center of strength for Visctheria after the War of the Gods.

Patania

The ancient kingdom that became the Eastern Continent and the Southern Islands, Patania was a country of cultural progress and scientific invention. The kingdom boasted the greatest schools and and festivals in the ancient world, creating a center of commerce and tourism that kept the empire going. The greatest influence on the early world, Patania was the source of most of the world's technological progression in the early eras.

Recia

The precursor to Reacia, Everia, Priquish, and Salman, Recia was the quietest of the three kingdoms. They spent their days dealing with their own internal problems of constantly warring groups and troubled citizens, leaving little time for external politics. While some interactions with the outside world occurred, it is easy to see how Everia became a closed nation when looking at its predecessor.

The Continent of the Deific Age is the perfect analogy for a hellscape: raging deities, fearful mortals, and magic twisting the landscape and wildlife with reckless abandon. Few could survive the daily, but those who made it through the chaos became stronger for it. That's why we still have a world after the War, you see. You can make it through the trouble, or you can be consumed by it.

Cities of the Gods

The three cities of the Gods drew an invisible line across the Continent, unknowingly helping to divide the three kingdom's borders. With Gavaria to the north, Ivrugon to the south, and Melarah in the center of the Continent, the rule of the Gods was absolute and all-encompassing, guiding the mortals through the eras - whether they liked it or not.

Melarah

Unlike the other two cities, Melarah is flooded with mortals, petitioning for their wishes at every corner. Few actually get to stand in front of the Godcourt, carefully chosen by Celestial attendants. The Gods rule their city with an iron fist, taking turns to hold court together to keep balance, always one Favorable, one Unfavorable. They patiently listen, make a decision, and change mortal lives in a single breath.

Gavaria

In Gavaria, beautiful flower baskets line the well-lit streets, attendants stand ready to serve every need, and gold filigree traces every curve of the city. Funding or shelter gifted by the city is a guarantee to success in life. The Favorable Gods lead this city in the ways of creation and invention; however they also bicker and quarrel over the best way to lead the mortals.

Ivrugon

Monsters crawling the streets, dark shades flitting from crevice to corner, and angry Gods stomping through the city; Ivrugon is not a welcoming place for mortals. The few who venture into the city are greeted with many challenges, and countless rewards if they make it to the court. The Unfavorable Gods rule here in darkness and destruction, existing to snuff out the Favorables, and unable to look beyond that.

There are twenty-four sapient species that call Visctheria home, a thriving planet that is full of biodiversity. While many Visctherians hold no ill will towards any particular species, there are some who cling to the ancient unspoken borders between them. Each species survived into the Heroic Age and beyond, but many were lost in the War of the Gods.

The Gods of Visctheria

Few mortals truly interacted with the Gods of Visctheria directly, but the rare occasion occurred when a mortal came face to face with the great beings in their court at Melarah.

Those who made it to the Godcourt were able to face any of the Gods on any given day, depending on which deities were elected to run the court. While most interactions between Gods and mortals happened at the Godcourt, there were still rare occasions when mortals wandered into the other God Cities.

Attendants of Gavaria

The Attendants in Gavaria are carefully chosen by the Gods themselves, and often given such gifts as extended life or intensified magical ability. They are stationed in the God City of the Favorables, and rarely leave their home unless allowed by their deities. They are mortals of great faith and power, and many of them worked hard for their position as direct attendant to the Gods.

Monsters of Ivrugon

The monsters that prowl Ivrugon are many and varied, born from the very will of Ninana herself.

While may of the few mortals who have visited the city claim to have killed one of Ninana's monsters, rarely is this the case. The monsters are nigh impossible to kill without the use of very dangerous and complex magics, protected by their mother from all dangers in their home territory of the city.
