Personal history
Der'nasel was a gifted and respected necromancer in the kingdom of Loardir. He became arch necromancer in 801 AB at the age of 37; during his tenure, he greatly advanced research and methods, but also ignored ethical concerns and issues. In 812, an investigation revealed a network of unlawful exhumations operated with his approval; further evidence and testimonies pointed to systemic kidnapping of street urchins and impoverished farmers to be experimented on.
In 815 he was formally accused of murder, conspiracy and abuse of power; when guards were sent to arrest him, they discovered he became a lich, and he fled to a secluded tower. In 820 his tower was assaulted by the Order of the Iron Gauntlet, and he was eventually slain by one of the order's highest ranking knights, Kesin. His phylactry was kept in a magic-nullifying vault. In 832 the vault was breached by Kesin, now one of Eorl's companions and a Death Knight of Bane, and the phylactry was removed, allowing Der'nasel to reform.
Though he was utterly baffled by this turn of events and suspected a trick, Der'nasel pledged his loyalty to the prince. He proved to be instrumental in Eorl's takeover of the kingdom, and was given the role of majordomo.
