Bafigronian Knightly Orders

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
The Bafigronian Knightly Orders is a term that refers to a myriad of knightly orders, either within The Bafigron Empire, related to it, or otherwise founded by Bafigronians.
There are three kinds of knightly orders by Bafigronian imperial law; a knightly order must fit into at least one of the following definitions:

Independent

Independent Orders are militant knightly orders founded independently of the empire; as such, they aren't subservient to the Sovereign Imperator, and act as the scant few political counterweights to his rule. Independent orders are the closest thing to sword-for-hires in the empire, as the Bafigronian culture shuns mercenaries and similar lines of work.

Sanctioned

Sanctioned Orders are militant knightly orders established in provinces and large cities to maintain peace and order. They act as police, internal troops, city guard, and peacekeepers in their assigned locale.

Archival

A Sovereign Imperator may, if he sees fit, call for the founding of a knightly order with a single goal. Though a Sovereign Imperator may call for the founding of any number of such orders, it is generally accepted that no more than four are to be established. When a new Sovereign Imperator is anointed, all orders founded by his predecessor are united into an Archival Order
