2025-04-04 Lightning quelled
General Summary
Combat scene continued
Laughing-Rain Izu flies up through the top deck and into the sky above the ship.
Stelsor and Bushy give chase into the air after the elemental, leaping or flying.
Rohen, Dreamflower, Fortifier, Rarida and Malka work to get the fires under control.
Rohen finds the coffins marked for Deathrose Pot-pourri and Miribadi Ghostlover.
Fortifier detects no Ghosts in the coffins. (Celestial Overseer Concordat)
Bushy attacked Laughing-Rain Izu and permanently destroyed the elemental. (Spirit-Slaying Stance)
We open the coffins and find a letter addressed to “Those Nexan Fools.” This seems to have been a decoy while they headed in a different direction.
Though the fight is over, the human crew members are all strangely absent from the ship.
Bushy spots someone scrambling up the shore from the river and flies over to them.
We find the crew cowering. They speak Flametongue so Stelsor translates.
Rarida steers the ship to the shore and the rest of us meets up with the crew.
Fortifier asks what their instructions would have been once they reached their destination.
They were supposed to make a great hubbub about having lost crew members and spend their pay loudly mourning their fallen crew members.
We negotiate hiring the crew into our trading interests.
With the circle’s astounding skills, repairing a mundane ship is no hardship for us.
Rohen analyzes the letter we found (Sagacious Reading of Intent)
He detects that, behind the taunting tone of the letter, Deathrose and Miribadi are seriously rattled by how close we are to undoing their plans.
Stelsor reports that Laughing Rain Izu was slain.
Rohavin pales at this news.
It seems the elemental was very close with Prikata Fang-Fall, so the war god may be more unstable from his grief.
Fortifier asks about Prasad’s flying vessels. Aspidian seemed very interested in them.
Rohavin is slightly taken aback at first. She's surprised we found out.
Aspidian had been selected as a junior officer aboard one of these ships, but it attracted the wrong kind of attention and the wrong crowd.
The lesser noblemen and aristocrats that crew these ships seem to have been corrupted.
Fortifier tries to diplomatically float the idea of Prasad loosening its grip on Y’danna, perhaps becoming allies instead of
Rohavin recognizes that the Court of the Crimson-Tailed Banner has been bellicose in toward Y’danna.
Rohavin is concerned that Y’danna has not been a friend in the past and doesn’t expect that to change.
She’s concerned that the Lover knows about their flying ships
She has 6, but can only effectively field 2 of them because of the extremely costly materials and First Age Artifice experts.
Scene: Back in Nexus
Someone left a letter for us.
The message is effusive, and promises to visit soon.
It seems like it was written by 4 different people.
Venatori "Combative Mattresses" Grimaldi, Windblown Snow, Only-looks-shy-when-asleep, ______
Rohen explores the markets of Nexus to get a feel for what goods from Y’danna could sell well in Nexus and what Y’danna might buy in return.
Bushy is interested in the spiritual landscape of Nexus, so Fortifier offers to take Bushy to the shrine of Silent Eyes.
This happens to be Rarida’s first time in Nexus itself, but he certainly knows its reputation as a bustling city and home base of the Guild.
Someone mentions Combative Mattresses, godfather of the Tang Zen criminal organization, will be coming to visit the circle soon.
Scene: Nexus - Firewander
Fortifier and Bushy take a pull car across the city to the shrine of Silent Eyes.
As we pass the Wyld zone, we catch a glimpse of the Sidereal manse we found in a spire inside
A blindfolded statue lies at the entrance to shrine.
Fortifier leaves a pair of shoes as an offering before the statue.
The middle-aged priest of Silent Eyes, Haussmann Firewand, greets us.
Fortifier asks Haussman how the Guild has been treating him.
Haussman says the Guild is now deferential to him now, and the Tang Zen are being helpful.
Bushy is full of questions for the priest about this god.
Silent Eyes is the god of victims of organized crime, a large population here.
The shrine is said to date back to the era of Hollow.
A girl recently broke her leg trying to avoid sorcerous ruffians who were trying to extort her father.
The rituals of the shrine are simple and focus on meeting the most essential needs.
Haussman leads us to a little alley behind the shrine.
There are two buildings. One has been burnt to the ground by a direct hit from a lightning bolt. The other has a door.
He looks to both sides before he knocks on the door.
A young woman, mid to late 20s in much-mended clothes, opens the door just a crack and Haussman identifies himself and that he has some friends with him.
An entire wall of the small building is burnt.
Fortifier immediately focuses on the structural problem and begins planning a fix.
Bushy makes a point to affirm the dignity in the woman and asks if we can repair the home as a step on his spiritual journey.
She is flattered
Together, they work astoundingly fast and repair the wall.
Fortifier adds a basic lightning rod.
Bushy leaves two copies of himself in the form of a little red pandas. He tells the priest that people can use these to call for him if they are in trouble in the future.
