General Summary
Scene: Bushy sifting through Aspidian’s memories.
Burano Rohavin, the Rani-Satrap, has a daughter, Burano Joh.
Aspidian has a half-sister from her mother: Burano Joh Maneria.
Aspidian was never certain who her father is or that of her sister.
Aspidian recalls seeing many more of the Lover’s symbols in the city than she expected was possible.
In a city of roughly half a million, there are roughly 1000 homes displaying the iconography of Tears falling like rain in some form.
The conspiracy instructions always seem to be one-way. They got their marching orders and weren’t encouraged to question or clarify them in any way.
Scene: In Kamthahar’s market
Stelsor is purchasing supplies and things for Metagalapa.
Urumi is helping relay info on this.
Fortifier looks for the most prosperous outfit that is flying the Tears Falling Like Rain.
There’s a building that looks like a fortress and seems to be a military academy. Something similar to one of the Realm Secondary School.
Scene: Next day, breakfast at the Whistling Pig
Bushy relates many personal details he uncovered about Aspidian, though is coy about his methods.
We identify that Aspidian was a trainer at the military academy and that seems related to why the academy has the flag of the Lover.
Aspidian was particularly interested in the navy.
Prasad had 2 flying ships that are docked.
Dreamflower has been studying Aspidian’s letters.
Dreamflower has also been training in Crane Style with Malka.
Current quest is basically if we can pin Deathrose and Miribadi to Aspidian’s betrayal, then we can get Beautiful Eyes to dissolve their pact with the Lover.
Stelsor coordinates to have Cantata (Tang Zen’s person for the Dreaming Sea) travel to Kamthahar sooner. She is coming from Palanquin.
Scene: Evening - At the home of the guildmaster of stevedores.
Rohen and Rarida make their way to the home of the guildmaster of stevedores
He has a flag for the Tears Falling Like Rain.
They knock on the door and show the papers confirming that we’re deputized by the rani-satrap.
The guildmaster seems nervous but doesn’t recognize the codenames Sweet Treat or Ancient Delicacy when questioned.
Rohen offers some silver and the guildmaster is more forthcoming.
The guildmaster recalls smuggling out two night-black wooden coffins with the mark of “the Lady” on them that he wasn’t supposed to inspect.
This was maybe just under a week ago. This date would match up with the letters and when Sweet Treat and Ancient Delicacy entered Kamthahar.
They sent these coffins up-river to Rockship.
He’s not quite sure why anyone would go to Rockship these days since Prasad took Y’danna.
Mishkal Borodino is the name of the shipmaster that was transporting the coffins.
Thunderhammer was escorting them.
When they asked about the names Deathrose and Miribadi, the guildmaster says those were the names on the coffins.
(possibility of keeping this guildmaster as a tertiary Contact)
As they make their way back, they notice that there seem to be extra patrols in the city.
Scene: Regrouping and then travelling to overtake the coffins’ ship
With Miribadi and Deathrose outside Kamthahar, we might be able to hit them directly without jeopardizing the Fecund Court’s pact.
Before we leave, we flash our papers and some of those additional patrols to ask them about their orders.
The guards say they’re on the look out for agents of the Lover.
We go back to Metagalapa, which was already near Kamthahar and use the floating island/mountain to take everyone toward Rockship.
Scene: On Metagalapa.
Mana-Tui is able to move the mountain to Rockship well ahead of our targets.
Rockship gets its name from the stone formation that looks like a ship.
Rarida is introduced to the Ar-Duke.
Rohen floats some business proposals to the Ar-Duke.
Around mid-afternoon, the ship is spotted and we fly down with the riding hawks.
Scene: Boarding the ship
The hawk riders tear the mast off the ship and the crew surrenders immediately.
Dreamflower takes point.
The Captain is terribly panicked about the mast and sails, and Dreamflower reassures him we can repair it once we’re done.
We begin searching below deck.
There’s a sickening black smoke billowing out of the hold.
Rarida uses his Air aura to push the smoke aside somewhat.
The smoke seems to be from the ship itself burning.
Bushy finds a figure with torches who is setting the wood of the ship ablaze.
It seems to be Laughing Rain Izu
We attack.
