Titles of the Boki

WARLORD

The Warlord of the Boki Tribes is the Thane that is victorious in the Pits. He wields Vispek “The Living Branch/Arm” and leads all of the Boki in battle. While Thanes may battle, only the Warlord may sound the Horn of War. The Warlord of the Boki is held in high esteem by the fae of Gwlad yr Rhyfel (the Court of Conquest), and is treated as a Septain.  Other courts respect the position of the Warlord and treat the Thornwold as the demesne of the Warlord.

THANES- KI’

These are the self-appointed leaders of the Boki tribes. Each Thane is the recognized ruler of an area of Haelos. Once an area of sufficient size has been brought to heel, the leader of the tribe will then take on the distinction of Thane. The surrounding Thanes will then challenge the new Thane to combat and the if the leader is found worthy, then they will receive their ranking among their peers as 1st, 2nd, etc Thane of the Boki. Thanes of the Boki wield Battlethorns (Warclubs) made of remaining pieces of Bloodroot’s tree.

Subthanes- Kar’

These are the sergeants and knights of the Boki tribes. Each Thane recognizes his most trusted and experienced warriors with the honorific Kar. The Subthanes compete for position under their Thane through combat with others and themselves. The designation of Subthane may be won in the Pits against another Subthane. It can also be granted by a sufficiently powerful spirit offering to the Vistol. Subthanes wield weapons made of Bloodthorn trees.

THORNS- ‘OK

These are the elder shaman of the Boki tribes. Each Thorn is the recognized keeper of one or more Bloodthorn trees. The number, health and power of the bloodthorns in his care as well as the power of his magic and the wisdom of his words bestow the Thorn with his prestige. Thanes compete fiercely for the territory of a powerful Thorn. Thorns may challenge other Thorns in the Pit for mastery of a Grove or Tree. A thorn is known by his Rake (Warstaves) made of remaining pieces of Bloodroot’s tree.

Shaman- ‘Ul

These are the proven mystics of the Boki Tribes. Each Thorn trains his flange and attends a Bloodthorn grove. Each shaman wields an implement made of a Bloodthorn tree.

RAIDERS- ZA’

These are the expert scouts and woodsmen of the Boki tribes. Each Raider is the responsible for training and using the animals of the Thornwold. They serve as trackers, hunters, guards, and more. Thanes compete fiercely for the loyalty of a powerful Raider and his beasts. Raiders may challenge other Raiders in the Pit for mastery of a Pack.

Stalker- Du‘

These are the proven scouts of the Boki Tribes. Each Raider trains his Pack and attends a beast of the Wold.

Chaser- NeDu‘

These are the neophite scouts of the Boki Tribes. They are trained in animal handling, husbandry, stealth, tracking, survival and hunting.

THE BLOODED

These are the descendants of the Boki orcs and other races that have been deemed as worthy and allowed to live. Those of the Blooded seek to bring worthy opponents to the Vistol (Living Seat) where the Virut (Living Root) is used to extract the spirit of the offering. Then if their offering is worthy enough, they may be transformed into true Boki.  Those that do not seek to become Boki often leave the Thornwold to pursue their own destiny outside of the Tribes.

THE UNMARRED

These are the humanoids that are not drained by the Virut ceremony. When an Unmarred appears, Palemoon, a White marked Orc of the Tribe of the Moon, appears to take them away. He and his brethren will protect the innocent until they can be returned home or integrated into the Unmarred society. Unmarred gather under the banner of Palemoon in the Ku’latyr.
