Lizardmyn

These are the children of Haelos, though lizardmyn can occasionally be found in other parts of Urth, Haelos is undoubtedly their original home. Anyone who looks upon a lizardmyn can plainly see their reptilian scaled skin, claws, and sharp teeth.   Though the Empire and the Ordan invaders took to calling them lizardmen, some of the olde ones still tell stories of the dragonblood that courses through the veins of their people. The nation of Dracria sits in the southeast of Haelos, along the Forbidden Coast. These lizardmyn proudly proclaim their draconic heritage, citing the common powers of their people. Imperial scholars claim that the lizardmyn share more with other Haelan reptilians. Regardless of their veracity, claims such as this place the lizardmyn of Haelos in the same category as the changelings in the eyes of many. Another piece of evidence that scholars like to use in their arguments is that fact that there are three basic physiques of the lizardmyn that mirror those of the changelings.
  • Tarragoni (Protos)- These lizardmyn are the most bestial. Their shape is basically humanoid, but they possess significant and refined reptilian features such as elongated limbs, snouts, horns, tails, and unconfirmed reports of even wings. The Tarragoni can never be mistaken for another ancestry at a distance.
  • Wyvas- These lizardmyn have a predominantly humanoid body type with noticeable reptilian traits such claws, forked tongues, eye, nose, mouth shape or a lack of ears. The face shape remains predominantly humanoid with some sign of the beast. The Wyvas’ skin is clearly scaled. Wyvas can sometimes be mistaken for another ancestry in silhouette. Most lizardmyn fall in this category.
  • Silshan (Forked)- The least populous of lizardmyn forms appear as Kin with subtle bestial characteristics that are hard to mistake face to face. They have fine scales, and sometimes forked tongues and reptilian eyes.
Lizardmyn are organized in clans, groups of lizardmyn that inhabit the same region and support each other, but within a clan exists another structure known as a Clutch. Clutches are raised communally by the clan and clutch mates treat each other like cousins regardless of their individual mothers and fathers.   The most important thing to a lizardmyn is their Breath. The power of their Breath is central to their being. References to one’s Breath are take quite seriously among the lizardmyn and oaths on one’s breath are never taken lightly and references to one’s Breath are often extended to mean life, word, honor, spirit, character, or anything that makes the lizardmyn who they are. While lizardmyn are born with the power of their Breath associated with their environment and ancestry, there are mystical resources known as Spiritus which a lizardmyn can consume to alter the effects of the Breath. The Breathgiving is a high honor among the lizardmyn of Haelos which is done when a child is of age to receive their Breath, or someone joins a clan.   Secondary to the Breath is the importance of the lizardmyn’s scales. Lizardmyn of different clans often have different scale colors. These colors aid the lizardmyn thrive in their native environment and hint to the powers of their Breath. Most consider their scales to be not only an extension of their skin, but their personality and position. Many children of Haelos treat their scales as Imperial Legionnaires do their armor, meticulously caring for them through cleaning and embellishments such as etchings or treatments to change its texture or color. References to one’s scales have almost as much weight as references to one’s Breath in the context of physical beauty and prowess.
