Goblin

Often known as runts, fodder or worse, goblins are the most populous of the subraces of goblinkin. It is easy to underestimate goblins and even the most seasoned and wary warrior does despite the fact they know better. Among the goblins, it is said that long ago, in the time before, the spirits of the goblin people were fractured, sending echoes throughout time that the goblin can call upon to get them out of trouble. It is common enough to hear a goblin talking to themselves or see them mumbling under their breath out of earshot. Goblins say that they are talking to themselves, well to their otherselves. They gather inspiration, renewed confidence, tips, strategies, and such from these seemingly one-sided conversations that they have from time to time. It is extremely bad luck for goblins to share the information that they gain from these huddles. It is also taboo for the goblin to address their otherself directly, often speaking in the maddened ‘we’ or ‘us.’ Interrupting or actively arguing with one’s otherself is extremely rude and has cost more than one goblin much needed aid as their strange pleas are ignored.   Among the goblin people, there are so many goblins born at a time that the adults do not bother claiming the young until they are much older and potentially more useful. Goblins are reared in large groups called a ‘gob.’ When a goblin becomes recognized, they receive the honorific ‘Get of [Parent].’ This is also used for adoptions among the goblins as direct blood lineage is almost impossible to prove and most goblins care little for such useless information as goblins are a people of the now.   Goblins have sharply pointed and hooked noses. Only the brave and exceptional goblins seek to differentiate themselves from the masses around them. As such, the members of a goblin community are likely to adopt similar hair styles, skills, and markings, making them one of many. To be emulated by others is a high honor among the goblins. In some broods, goblins emulate leaders from times before, often taking the same nickname as the old leader or champion.
