Discipline of Traps

Skilled   You can store an Effect in a representation that activates when another interacts with it without the proper skill or trait. This also allows you to use your action to prepare appropriate Effects to activate upon a specific trigger.

Free Effect(s)

  • You can use Engines in combat based on the Styles that you possess.
  • You can access the Energy and Mana of Mechanical items.

Energy Effect(s)

  • Create a Trap with a Skilled Effect and Delivery you possess in a designated Zone with a designated Trigger. This Effect is delivered as an UNERRING Effect to the Target.
  • Create a Trap of Alarm.  A Trap of Alarm will alert creatures within 3 Zones when it is triggered. It can ward one zone.
  • Create an Obstruction on an object that releases a Skilled Effect you know when a character interacts with the object or Obstruction without the proper Skill, Effect, Trait, or Approach.

Expert

Energy Effect(s)

  • Create a Trap with an Expert Effect you possess in a designated Zone with a designated Trigger. This Effect is delivered as an UNERRING Effect to the Target.
  • Create a Trap of Warning.  A Trap of Warning will alert creatures within 10 Zones when it is triggered. It can ward one zone.
  • Create an Obstruction on a zone that releases a Skilled or Expert Effect you know when a character crosses the boundary of the zone or interacts with the Obstruction without the proper Skill, Effect, Trait or Approach.

Mana Effect(s)

  • EXTEND- Set a Trap that lasts for the duration of the Chapter.
  • BURST [EFFECT]- Add the BURST Trait to your trap.
  • MASSIVE [EFFECT]- Enhance your combat traps to strike as MASSIVE when using Energy or Mana Effects for the Scene.

Master

Energy Effect(s)

  • Create a Trap with a Master Effect you possess, not including Skill Mastery, in a designated Zone with a designated Trigger. This Effect is delivered as an UNERRING Effect to the Target.
  • Create a Trap of Revelation.  A Trap of Revelation will alert you when it is triggered, regardless of the distance. It can ward one zone.
  • Create an Obstruction on a zone that releases a Skilled, Expert or Master Effect (not Mastery Effect) you know when a character crosses the boundary of the zone or interacts with the Obstruction without the proper Skill, Effect, Trait or Approach.
Limitation: This Discipline grants a character that has an ARCANE STYLE the DISCIPLINE OF WARDING, which allows the use of Arcane Traps (known as Glyphs).   Minor Milestone Expansion: Learn Lures which add a [TRAIT] to the Trap Trigger, Concealing the trigger or making the Trap only trigger or target [TRAIT] creatures.
