Chris’ Story

Chris wants to be a healer. He enjoys playing a support character in video games and thinks that he would also enjoy it in DragonCrest.
  • Looking over the options and lore, he thinks that a member of the House of the Healing Heart would be the best fit. He decides that he will spend two of his Minor Milestones to become a Brother in the House of the Healing Heart.
  • The Arcane Ranged Style seems to be the best choice for his character as he would like to use magic instead of Alchemy.
As a member of the House of the Healing Heart there are a number of skills that Nathan wants but has not decided on their ranks.
  • The Path of Spirit is a must!
  • The Discipline of Healing is also a must have skill.
  • The Discipline of Dispelling seems like a good choice for a support character.
  • The Discipline of Gifts is another great choice for a support character, allowing him to apply enhancing effects to his allies.
Now that he has a skeleton, Chris needs to flesh it out. He knows that he will want to be much better at some of these skills, so he starts there.
  • Chris wants to be an Expert at Healing.
  • He also wants to be an Expert at Dispelling.
  • The Discipline of Gifts seems to be best suited for Defense and Chris would like to be Expert at that.
  • Chris realizes that to best utilize his Discipline of Gifts, he needs to expand his knowledge of Paths that will let him protect his companions better and give him more options in general.
These choices represent 8 Standard Milestones and 2 Minor Milestones. Since a starting character only has 10, Chris thinks that he might want to become a Human- Kin to get extra skills. He decides that his character will be essentially the forgotten youngest son of a minor noble back in the Empire. He was too flamboyant and friendly with others, leading a scandal where he left home and wandered until he ran out of road and friends. After dying senselessly, Chris’ character joins the House of the Healing Heart where he finds stability, a new family and purpose.  
  • Volunteering for more dangerous assignments in the Heart, Chris thinks it would be best if his character has training in the Discipline of Armor skill as it expands his ability to bestow Defensive Gifts. He can also say that this was learned from members of the Royal Order of the Sun which his character washed out of.
  • Perhaps Chris’ character spent some time trying to become a member of the White Heart and learned some spells to subdue his enemy like the Discipline of Sleep.
  • Not being as learned, quick, strong or tough as others, Chris’ character learns the Discipline of Forms to help him and his companions survive in the more dangerous places where they find themselves.
  • His gift for magic seems to be his only real saving grace, as such, Chris decides that he will spend a skill to increase his Arcane Ranged Style to Expert level.
  • Being a healer of the House of the Healing Heart, Chris decides that he should be able to remove Warded to Restore and spends a Minor Milestone to add that ability to his Discipline of Dispel.
  • As he decided to be flamboyant, Chris chooses the Flair Approach.
  • After some thought, the Paths of Glamour, Time, Wind and Water seem the best fits. Glamour allows him to use Mental effects, Time allows him to use Kinetic effects and Wind or Water allow him to use Elemental effects with his Expert Arcane Ranged skills. This leads Chris to another decision. He decides to choose the Discipline of Wind and make his character a Kindred of the Jann. He decides to make his Discipline of Forms as Ancestral and gain the Devotion of Resistance to Elemental Effects.
  • Looking at his notes, Chris realizes that his Trouble has emerged- Flighty and Fickle.

Chris further refines his backstory to include the fact that he is originally from the eastern shores of the Empire along the Sea of Storms. He thinks that it would be cool to at least think that his father was a Jann that washed up on shore after one of the great storms and was supposedly a Wind Walker. Chris decides that his character has a tattoo that he will say is a tamga of the Jann, inspired by his father and his own wind echo. Right now, this is only what his character claims, not what occurred or is true. He hasn't decided if it is actually the mark that his father bore on his face or just the result of a drunken night he does not recall.   He keeps his family name somewhat of a secret by adopting a new name when joining the Heart. Chris isn't sure if anyone in the hierarchy knows his character's real name.
