Advancing Characters

Once you create your character, you will begin to accrue milestones as you participate in DragonCrest experiences. Milestones do not only track your character's accomplishments. They represent your character's total experience. As we all know, you can often learn more from a failure than from a success. As they gather milestones, players can spend them to gain in-game benefits for the character. Each type of milestone can be used differently. Greater milestones can be used for lesser benefits, but lesser milestones cannot be used for greater benefits. There are several types of milestones:

Minor Milestone (Trophies)

  • Minor milestones represent a small but significant accomplishment of your character.
  • Change a Standard Milestone skill permanently
  • Add a Minor Milestone expansion to a skill.
  • Enable the use of a single skill level for a Scene
  • Grant a Minor Faction Rank when used in conjunction with Faction Favor (Up to Journeymyn+)
  • Enable a Minor Faction Benefit
  • Remove a Minor Scar after performing the appropriate action.
  • Change your Ancestry Bloodline after performing the appropriate action (Dwarf-Kelnor to Dwarf-Terrakin)
  • Fuel Rite
  • Enable Offstage Action
  • Change Standard Scar
  • Add an Aspect (if you have a slot free)
  • Change an Aspect of your character that is not your High Concept

Heroic Tier

This is the first Tier of play. A character in the Heroic Tier between 10 and 19 earned Skills.

Epic Tier

This is the second Tier of play. A character in the Epic Tier has between 20 and 29 Skills. Characters of this Tier may begin to Mentor characters of Heroic Tier. When a character of Epic Tier wishes to add the Epic Tier to their use of skills, they must spend a Mana, which allows the use of the Epic Tier on all skills used in the current Scene. Characters have one free use of Epic Tier for a Scene each Chapter. In addition, each character can use a single skill/effect as Epic each Chapter.

Legendary Tier

This is the last Tier of play. A character in the Legendary Tier has 30 Skills and an Aspect. This Aspect defines their Legendary status. Characters of this Tier may begin to Mentor characters of Epic or Heroic Tier. When a character of Legendary Tier wishes to add the Legendary Tier to their use of skills, they must spend a Mana, which allows the use of the Epic Tier on all skills used in the current Scene and the use of the Legendary Tier for skills associated with their Aspect. A Legendary character may mark up to three Attributes, Skills, or Aspects as Legendary with Major Milestones.
Tier Active Skills Min Active Skills Max Stress Energy Mana
Heroic 10 19 4 4 4
Epic 20 29 4 4 4
Legendary 30 30 4 4 4

  • Once a Chapter, free use of the Epic Tier for a single Effect per Chapter.
  • Once a Chapter, free use of Epic Tier for a Scene
  • Spend a Mana to invoke Mentor or Epic Tier for a Scene
When you achieve the Legendary Tier, you gain the following:
  • When you invoke your Epic Tier Effect or Epic Tier any skill tagged with Legendary Tier is active as a Legendary Tier Effect.
  • Spend a Mana to invoke Mentor or Legendary Tier for your tagged skills and Epic Tier for all other skills for a Scene.

Mentoring
