Arterial

In the wake of the Empire's fall, nations rose and fell like waves on a stormy sea. Over the following century, General Lacroix founded Fidira and the kingdom's borders expanded and shrunk, breathing with the times. Its southern borders were ever in the bottleneck of land known as the Artery, between the Hylian and Black oceans. The empire had conquered the tribes native to the region, but the Arterial peoples were ever recalcitrant.

Arterials claim to be descended from a god of war, or hold some secret passed down from this god. The veracity of this claim is yet debated. The Arterial people have an undeniable skill in battle shown both throughout history and in the present. Their culture has always revolved around combat in a broad definition.

Strength, Honour and Piety

In Arterial culture, 'strength' is more than physical might. It encompasses cunning, ingenuity, creativity, dexterity -- anything that assists in or allows the outwitting of adversaries. Honour is to keep one's word, to use ones strength with wisdom and prudence. Piety is the ability to control oneself, to keep the humours in balance and show mercy and kindness.

Traditionally, strength is considered masculine, peity is considered feminine. This is general and broad, however, and interpretations vary between tribes.

Arterial People on Tellanor

The Artery is host to the Land of the Hundred Princes, where the Arterial love of war finds unending outlet as princes march to war over issues large and small. Many Arterial people find themselves skilled in fighting out of necessity, though those with softer hearts often flee northward to Fidira. Fidira's south is home to a sizeable number of Arterial people, and the native language is sometimes spoken or woven into Fidiran or Old Imperial. Many towns in Fidira's south bear names from the Arterial language, the largest among them Pwyllfflint.
