The Guardrails
Here's how this works:
Each week, up to 25 creators will be given access to create an article based on a prompt. Prompts will be chosen based on the needs of the world in the beginning, to flesh out a skeleton for stories to be hung on.
If there are more than 25 creators looking for a chance to participate, creators may be rotated in and out of the world, or a new world may be created to accomodate more creators.
A basic map will be supplied, and creators will be assigned an area randomly to focus on, based on the prompts.
"Guardrails" will be in place to ensure no creator goes outside the "canon" of the world. Those articles and facts that are considered canon will be listed in a Canon article that will act as a growing reference. This will be a living article, and articles and stories may change the canon and shape it.
The Canon will include genre references, base information about the environment of the world, etc. As locations are named and accepted as Canon, they will be added to the reference.
Because this is being designed as a collaborative effort and not a competitive one, all writers should be working toward a cohesive world and a solid Canon as a goal. Those who wish to work alone or try to mold the stories solely to their liking may want to seek other venues.
Most of all - this is being created to have fun. Writers will create their own space in a bigger world, and will need to collaborate to determine how those spaces interact. Unilateral decisions can be made, but there may be more consequences in terms of story lines.
