Haute-Besance Organization in Synergasia | World Anvil

Haute-Besance

Area

The state stretches from the snowy mountains of The Blancmonts Range to the East to the Lac Bleu in the south. Besance's access to the lakeshore is tenuous but important to the economy of the region. In the south, the River Delange  forces itself through dizzying heights and deep canyons into the Lac Bleu, and forms a natural barriers with the Kingdom of Fortrente .

Habitat and Natural Resources:

- Mountain Habitat in the Blancmonts Mountains

Mining silver and rubies is the primary economy of the Blancmonts valleys, as well as the rearing of long-hair goats and their much prized silken wool.   A lively and lucrative high-end spinning and cloth-making industry have grown out of the goats' rearing. The cloth is exported to the rest of Besance to make into high fashion clothes for the Republican gents and ladies.

- Forest Taigas in the north

Besance has the immense River Rieunan as its northern border. No one has ever been able to cross it (yet). Everyone who tried perished in the process.   South of the river lies part of the immense frozen pine forest of Francalia. The The Taiga Forest starts in the northern part of the Blancmonts and continues over miles and miles until it reaches The Ocean in the West. The settlements who live in the forest or at its edge have developed an economy based on trapping, logging, and fishing.   A lot of the pulp needed to make paper comes from the pine forests of Besance and its neighboring state Marjolais. Animals are plentiful in the forest and trapping goes on throughout the Autumn and Winter months. Wild cats furs, in particular, can fetch a pretty penny in the more clement southern regions of Francalia.

- Green Foothills and Lower Valleys

Between the Blancmonts and the shore of the Lac Bleu lies a series of fertile and green valleys. The gently rolling green hills are ideal for the rearing of cattle such as cows and sheep. In, the more clement, sheltered valleys, people can even grow apples and hop. The valleys are well known for their excellent cider and beer production.   The cloth produced in the high region of the Blancmonts is further processed in the Manufactures of the valleys. As well as the precious goat's wool and cloth, the Manufactures will also process the wool produced from the hill sheep.   Because of the amount of farmed animals in the region, it is also well known for its cured meat and sausages. The region's well-known breed of cows is famous for the quality of its meat.

- Lake Shore

The lakeshore region starts with a marshy carse. The hills surrounding the marshes are a boon to the human population. Many villages have settled on the short heights and take advantage of their position near the lakeshore to trade with the rest of Francalia.   Most of the goods produced in the Besance region will make its way to the Lac Bleu and will be moved by boats to other parts of the lands. The local population is able to grow many hardy vegetables and roots in built-up terraces on the slopes of the hills.
