Lefford of Golden Tooth

House Lefford of the Golden Tooth is one of the principal houses sworn to House Lannister of Casterly Rock. The seat of the House is the Golden Tooth. The castle controls the main entrance to the westerlands from the east.   House Lefford blazons its arms with a golden inverted pile on sky blue, a sun left in the sky. Their words are "By tooth and nail the day is won."

Culture

Traits

Despite being born from uniting an Andal warlord with a wife of First Men blood, house Lefford has managed to maintain enough Andal marriages to keep the fine and noble features the Andals are known for and typically bear golden hair and blue eyes with no shortage of arrogance to go with it.

History

Origins

House Lefford was formed by the union of an Andal warlord with a noblewoman of the First Men. The Leffords presumably received the Golden Tooth when Cerion Lannister, King of the Rock, conquered the area.

Targaryen Dynasty

Young Lord Clifton Lefford was among those killed at the Field of Fire, succeeded by his newborn son Gerion who refused to support Vaenor Targaryen when he sought the assistance of the Westerland lords against King Baelon Targaryen.   Despite their general interest in remaining separate from the politics of house Targaryen, their support, or rather allowance, of the Faith Militant's attacks against the Riverlands lead to Golden Tooth being burned by Balerion the Black Dread. Though no one was lost in the attack the gates of Golden Tooth were in such disrepair that it took almost two months to open the gates, losing weeks worth of toll revenue from travelers was lost.

Seat and Holdings

Although the Golden Tooth has a small castle, it is a strong complex commanding the hill road between the westerlands and the riverlands. It is generally held that in order to attack the Westerlands from the east, one must take the Tooth to have a secure passage.
