Customs

The Forresters are a house of craftsmen more than warriors which is looked down upon by some other houses with a more martial tradition, however their trade in wood has earned them a considerable amount of wealth and influence not just at home but in markets beyond the North, primarily Braavos and Fairmarket.

History

Origins

Forresters have been a source of strength in the North for untold millenium, not only as a portion of the armies raised by Glover and Stark to their own ends but as the source of Ironwood for the strongest shields and the stiffest spears. Forresters have provided lumber for the Wall, Scorpions and siege engines.   Once simple axemen in the Wolfswood the Forresters have reached heights they never could have expected for the perceived simplicity of their work.

Aegon's Conquest

House Forrester was not among those who bent the knee with Torrhen Stark to Aegon the Conqueror, but offered their personal fealty later at the Aegonfort along with a gift of ironwood for the beginning timbers of the Red Keep.

Seat and Holdings

Ironrath is an imposing stronghold surrounded by towering ironwood trees. Built over fifteen hundred years ago by Cedric Forrester and his triplet sons, Ironrath is a testament to the strength and endurance of ironwood. Ironrath sits on the edge of the largest ironwood forest in Westeros, which has proven to be a strategic advantage for the House and their Lords, the Starks.   It is located in the northern wolfswood in the foothills of the northern mountains, between Deepwood Motte and Winterfell.
