Estren of Wyndhall

House Estren of Wyndhall is a noble house from the westerlands. Wyndhall is along the gold road at the confluence of the Reach, Riverlands and Westerlands.   They blazon their shield as a green saltire between four red double-headed eagles on white and their words are "We see far and wide."

Culture

Traits

The Estrens are a mix of First Men and Andal blood and like most of the region around the Riverlands and northern Reach can be commonly found with strawberry blond or auburn hair and blue or green eyes. Their facial features tend to be fairly handsome if not a touch soft.

Customs

The Estrens are a house of hunters and enjoy a good bit of sport. From a young age the children of house Estren learn how to track, handle the birds and ride, or in the case of the girls, handle the birds and ride.

Family Tree

History

House Estren's origins are not well known, they seem to have simply appeared at some point and remained. They are known before the Andal invasion though not specifically as a noble house.   Their history is about as common as it gets, an accounting of participation in a number of battles across the Westerlands, Riverlands and Reach, the fealty of their hall moving from River King to Gardener to King of the Rock and back again.

Targaryen Dynasty

Aegon's Conquest

The Estrens were among the forces that the Westerlands brought to face Aegon the Conqueror and survived the encounter having been relegated to a reserve position for the small size of their force and their specialized skills.   The battle beneath the Gods Eye was near to their seat however the Estrens did not participate, however they took in a great number of the wounded from both sides and protected some of Vaenor's loyalists against men of house Targaryen who sought to slay the wounded from the opposing side.

Seat and Holdings

Wyndhall is hardly a castle or fortification of any kind. A large wooden hall in the midst of simple fields, the Estren's are hardly a defense against invaders and more a pass through for moving armies. Part of why their loyalities have been shifted so considerably and so often over the years.   The lands around Wyndhall are simple farms that grow a variety of crops for the advantageous though not wildly fertile land they have claimed.
