5. Eldi

Petals hide sharp thorns
Soft hands learn how strength feels first\
Spring cuts carefully

Eldi is the fifth month of the year and the first full month of spring. It takes its name from Eldi, the Son of Solis, and is traditionally associated with disciplined strength, composure, and the rightful inheritance of light.

Where Solis burns eternal and sovereign in the heavens, Eldi embodies light directed with intention. The month reflects this quality: illumination without excess, warmth without weakness, power without spectacle.

In Eldi, daylight asserts itself confidently. The hours of brightness lengthen in visible measure, and the sun climbs higher in the sky. The cold no longer lingers stubbornly in shadowed corners. Warmth becomes dependable rather than fleeting.

In Edison, Eldi transforms the cityscape. Public gardens flourish. Trees unfurl full canopies of green. Rooftops and stone façades glow beneath longer afternoons. Rain remains frequent, but it nourishes rather than hinders. Storms pass swiftly, leaving the air clear and bright.

Eldi is a month of established growth.

Traditions

Leaves tremble in wind
Storms remembered before birth
Eldi teaches poise

Eldi is associated with strength revealed gently. As the Son of Solis, Eldi represents inherited light — power carried with restraint rather than blaze.

Across Nyria, this is the month when planting begins in earnest. Farmers commit seeds to soil with deliberate care. Tools repaired during winter are brought back into daily use. In rural regions, families walk their land at dawn to inspect the first firm signs of growth.

Eldi has long been considered a month of bearing and composure. In past centuries, young nobles were often presented formally to society during this time, symbolising readiness to step into responsibility. Apprentices likewise aimed to complete their first independent works in Eldi, demonstrating that they had grown beyond instruction.

It is said: “What stands in Eldi will stand the year.” Because of this belief, vows made and contracts signed during this month are thought to carry particular weight.

27th of Eldi — White Feathers Day

Each year on this day, flocks of white parrots migrate from the northern regions toward the south, passing directly over Edison. Their wings brighten the sky as they move in vast formations overhead.

Work often pauses as citizens gather outdoors to watch the migration. Children collect any white feathers that drift down during the passage. These feathers are kept as tokens of clarity, unity, and steady purpose.

Among the nobility, a single white feather is sometimes worn in attire for the remainder of the month. Among working families, feathers may be tied above doorways or attached to tools as a sign of good fortune for the season ahead.

Earnest and Important

A witty satire of social conventions, centering on two affluent bachelors, Henry Fairchild and Sebastian Montrose, who each assume the pseudonym “Ernest” to court their respective love interests, Arabella Hawthorne and Lydia Pembroke. Their intertwined deceptions spark a chain of comic misunderstandings, invite relentless scrutiny from the formidable Lady Harrington, and culminate in the revelation that Henry is, in fact, truly named Ernest—and is Sebastian’s long-lost brother.

Pipecross Primier League Finals

Each year, as spring stands firm in its strength, the finest Pipecross teams gather for the Premier League Finals — the culminating contest of discipline, breath, and unbroken Focus.

Held over two days in Eldi, the month of poised strength and inherited light, the Finals represent more than athletic excellence. They are a public display of endurance, coordination, and collective will — virtues long associated with the spirit of the Pipecross ritual.

Crowds travel from across Edison and beyond to witness the closing matches. Guild banners fly. Betting houses swell. Street vendors line the approaches to the grounds. What began as ritual has become spectacle — yet even now, beneath the roar of the crowd, the core remains unchanged:
