Verseras River

Long before the Valedori Empire and the cleansing of the Imperial Fractal, locals have called this river the “Black Brook”. Flowing from the dark waters of the Csillasloch, the Verseras River is a portent that leaks from the dark center of the Eastmark that speaks to the heavy history of the Age of Darkness in this region. Wider than any other river in the Imperial Fractals, the waters are cold and slow as they flow from the loch, through Csillasgrad and the Accorsa Crossroads, ending at the Dawnbreak Bay where they pour off the edge of the Fractal in a wide falls that can be seen from the hillsides of The Golden Hills and the tallest buildings of Valedor.   There are multiple conflicting stories for the source of the name “Black Brook” - though all have something to do with the Age of Darkness and the death this region saw during this time. Some claim it to be from the stain of blood left behind by the feasts of the Vampire Lord Markov Ambrose who ruled the region from the shoreline of Castle Ambrose. Others claim it was stained with the cremated ashes from the survivors living in the cavernous crypts and cathedrals of Csillasgrad who helped fight back during the War of Thorns as the Imperial Army came to the region.   Despite these foreboding stories - the river itself still plays an important role for the Imperial Fractals, drawing civilization to its banks, whether they would want to or not. The Verseras, like the Csillasloch it flows from, is one of the most reliable sources of fish in the entire Valedori Empire. Because of this, its waters are constantly filled with fishermen boats - especially around the settlements of Csillasgrad and the Accorsa Crossroads. These two cities are also home to two massive stone bridges of ancient make, the only two permanent crossings over the wide breadth of the river. The river itself is far too wide to ford on horse, and is difficult to swim across despite its slow current, which can clog up travel to just these two bridges. However, there are some less-official means to cross the Verseras found along the Pallastrada Road which runs along its banks, though these are often connected to the bandit gangs that take refuge in the Muldrotha Wilds which lines much of the Southern bank of the river.
