Fogcatcher Crags in Shadar | World Anvil

Fogcatcher Crags

At the Southernmost point of the Imperial Fractals lies a broken mountain range of jagged brown-stone peaks, slick with rainwater. This clutch of cliffs and crags is spread across shattered Fractal pieces that float amidst the clouds, creating narrow canyons and veins that run through the mountains - catching dense fog clouds within them and holding them tight even in blaring golden sunlight.   The Fogcatcher Crags is a collection of small Fractals and mountains that is commonly frequented by raincatcher Skyships from Reina's Landing - in large part due to the near-constant rain and dense fog that gathers in the region and gives the surrounding Hazelwood its name. This source of water is a rare one in the Southmark and an important trade for the people of Reina's Landing.   While most Skyships that make passage through here are operated by the Stormcharter Guild, there are some young Skyship pilots who dare to take some of the most narrow or twisted routes through the Fogcatcher Crags - with hopes of being recruited by the Navigators Guild or as a pilot in the Imperial Army. While most would call this foolish at best, and incredibly stupid and dangerous at worst, it has become even more dangerous in the past few years with the presence of the Oathbreaker Brotherhood expanding in the region - and now having shown the capability to take down Skyships flying in their territory. But while that risk has deterred some, it has only drawn even more daring flights from wistful young pilots with dreams of leaving their quiet homes this far South.
