Brigid Haldr

Famed Artificer of the First King of Valedor, celebrated as the inventor of the Skyship, and foundation of the Haldric House of Widsom - Brigid Haldr is not only a historic figure, but a mark of pride in Dwarven culture and revered by any Dwarf who would put their mind to the work of invention.   While her legacy has been subject to the well-cataloged exaggeration of Dwarven legends, her impact on the Imperial Age is inarguable. Though she did not invent the modern Skyship whole-cloth, she is credited with the first Skyship to use Knotted Stone in its construction - The Dawnbreaker, a ship that has many exaggerated legends to its own name. This marked a turning point in her life, and the lives of many others at the end of the Age of Darkness where Haven settlements could begin to communicate with each other and rally together under the banner of her captain, the soon to be King Caspian Valero.

FATE AND HER LEGACY

While much of the crew of The Dawnbreaker stayed alongside the King at the end of the War of Thorns, after her service at his side as his chief engineer and pilot - Brigid chose a different path for her life. Stories say that she took The Dawnbreaker in the dead of night, with only the express permission of her friend the King, and sailed into the Nimbus Sea. The goal of her venture is unknown, but she has never returned from this journey.   Today her legacy lives on in the Haldric House of Widsom, a group of Dwarven thinkers and inventors who have carried on her legacy and look to her as an example of what the future can hold.
