Mister Mumford Merrymittens (a.k.a. Office Cat)

Mumford is an office cat who can be found around the twenty-seventh floor of Jack Pine Tower. He has been described as quiet and shy to bold and judgmental. He knocks things off of desks, gets scared of robotic vacuums, perches on top of the lunch room fridge, and stares out the window at birds he cannot reach. Even still, he is beloved by all.

Most Junior Sprouts love to be assigned to the twenty-seventh floor because they revel in the opportunity to spy Mumford making his rounds, hear him meow, and perhaps even pet his soft fur.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Mumford is an average-sized cat who is quite agile, nimble, and spry. He is able to leap from the floor to the counter to the top of the refrigerator in a matter of seconds.

Personal history

Mumford was supposedly born and raised within a W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. lab, but this has not been confirmed nor denied by the agency. He seems to have lived his entire life indoors and has not been allowed outside on many occasions (that the general public is aware of). The feline was trained to use a litterbox and to eat at designated times. The closest thing to the outdoors Mumford experiences is the winter garden, which is a glass room with turf and plants used to simulate the experience of exploring and enjoying nature.

In addition to normal pet behaviors, Mumford displays signs of Enhancement. He is taught to use a particular set of skills to carry out intricate maneuvers and tasks, though many simply observe that he is being a mischievous cat.

Mumford seems to be motivated by paper to scratch, catnip to sniff, and staplers to knock of of desks. He likes to lounge aorund lazily, bask in the sun, and get all in the way on your desk when you are trying to work.

Mumford is very intelligent. Some people claim that he seems to know what humans are speaking about even though he is only a cat. A few operatives have accused him of being a spy himself. He neither confirms nor denies these allegations.

Likes & Dislikes

Mumford likes scritches and rubs. He likes to bask in the sun. He also likes to lie on top of the breakroom fridge. He seems to enjoy pushing things off of desks, and he sniffs all the potted plants to see if any catnip is planted in the soil. To his dismay, there never is.

Mumford licks his fur clean just like any other cat would.

Mumford is very social and often enjoys the attention and fawning that humans provide, but on rare occasions, he will be averse to pets or interaction. At these times, the one who Mumford tries to avoid is normally confused, disappointed, or even hurt. Most everyone wants to pet and befriend the cat.

Did you know there are office cats? Yeah. A couple of 'em live right here in Jack Pine. There's one on the twenty-seventh floor. He's something of a celebrity around here. His name is Murphy or Milford or something. He's adorable. But I wouldn't want to work on that floor. There's always so much cat hair everywhere. I'm more of a dog person, myself, but it is fun to go up there and see what that little guy's up to. As long as I can come back down to my own office and not have to worry about everything being scratched up and knocked off onto the floor.

While Mumford does not seem to speak any other languages, many people have expressed that the feline seems to understand and fully comprehend human language and behavior.
