Description:
Erecombe lattices twist magic more finely than a master tailor manipulates thread. Unfortunately for many inspired blacksmiths, the manner in which arcane energies respond are seemingly random. Wearing armor of this nature is extremely dangerous. A spell might be repelled in one moment, and another attracted and amplified.
Some forge catalysts from erecombe blightfoil, but they often do so at a mad magician’s behest, or led by their own strain of madness. The Blight malady is also capable of warping the mind in strange and unusual ways.
There was once a former seeker turned blacksmith, who claimed the blightfoils spoke to her, whispering secrets. The first seeker who entertained the blacksmith's sickness quickly rose to prominence, owing their success to the erecombe choker made by the blacksmith. One mage after another sought out the talents of this genius of the forge, as rumors spread. Then, one by one, each died to a spell missfire. Each missfire claimed the lives of many seekers in the immediate area.
By that point, the blacksmith had already used her life as arcane payment, enchanting one final erecombe choker. After passing through the hands of a number of authority figures and collectors, the precise enchantment was never detected, and the choker vanished.
