Digitrite boasts a highly solid crystal lattice. Clusters are profoundly transparent, perfect for storage and retrieval purposes. Strangely, not a single cluster has been found to be malformed without outside intervention. Every single one is perfect.
Clusters of digitrite form in difficult to reach places, only ever in the Core layers of some festerfonts. They are difficult to harvest, but not so difficult that a practiced specialist fails all that often. The pressure comes from the fact that finding a single cluster is a tremendous windfall.
Uses:
Digitrite is pure enough the transmit signals over long distances, eventually used in Magitech and Mundane communication devices.
Learning Magic stored in Digitrite is more effective, though this is seen as a waste of a rare crystal.
Digitrite is sometimes stored in large light towers in capital cities. It isn’t consumed in the process, and can be removed once a better use is found. Once the “Overcasting” begins, these towers become the difference between life and death.
Eventually, tech weapons use Digitrite to highly concentrate light, or to overload and deal a significant blow to a dangerous opponent.
Some extraordinarily advanced magics can only be stored in a container as pure as a Digitrite crystal. These are saved as trump cards.
