Guren (Japanese: 紅蓮 Guren) is the main heroine of Project Scarlet Moon. She is a very experienced, high-ranking Youkai Hunter who's on a mission to locate and stop Chiyo from starting the Blood Moon. Her partner and sister is Garuda.

Personality

Unsurprisingly, she is the reliable older sister type. Has a very gentle personality and speaks politely. Reliable and hard-working, though distant at times. She has a very strong sense of duty and a very strict sense of responsibility when she's serious. She can get a bit kinky at times. She is a mature lady, after all. But she's usually bashful when caught off-guard, still.

While she hates eating/absorbing people against her will, she actually loves to eat food, especially fruits and vegetables. Often times she ends up helping herself without realizing. This is probably because she's dealing with her latent instinct to eat people by eating other things a lot instead. Probably to appease her inner demons as well.

While very reluctantly, she considers willing prey to be noble martyrs to the youkai hunters' cause, so she usually will not complain about people offering themselves to her belly, as refusing them would be the same as turning down the most heartfelt gifts.

She believes she ate too many innocent people and always willingly goes on to dangerous, life-risking missions because she thinks this is the only way she can atone for her sins, even if she didn't commit them all by her own will.

Background

Intro

Guren and her sister, alias Garuda, were sent to Yozora's village by the Youkai Hunter's headquarters to protect the residents due to Yozora's (or more accurately, Inari's) premonition that a great disaster would befall on the village.

The Eight Cold Hells

Guren's signature ability and youkai. Allows her to permanently seal anybody she eats or absorbs with her body by sending them to and freezing their body and soul in the Eight Cold Hells. It also allows her to "borrow" Seiryoku from those imprisoned inside her. Doing so often unfreezes powerful foes she has sealed before, and often times they either try to escape from or torment Guren by inflicting numerous curses on her, which usually take form in her body moving against her will or youkai limbs coming out of her body. The curses end whenever an equivalent amount of seryoku is taken in as sacrifice to refreeze the youkai. The most fearsome and formidable youkai whose body is partially sealed in each of the Eight Hells is the kijin Ootakemaru. Due to Ootakemaru's Seiryoku seeping out from where the kijin's being sealed, Guren's body features now a reminiscent to that of a part-cow girl. Due to the Eight Cold Hells' ever-expanding nature, Guren's curves are constantly growing and it is becoming gradually harder for her to hold them in to a more manageable size.

The Eight Cold Hell Arts

Thanks to the Seiryoku drawn from the Eight Cold Hells, Guren has access to a wide array of fearsome predatory arts, with each cold hell often following a common theme. The first cold hell fuels Guren's low cost, bread-and-butter Predatory Arts. The second cold hell allows her to cast fearsome illusions and crowd control arts on her targets. The third cold hell gives Guren more combat arts, along with long-range arts. The fourth cold hell grants Guren formidable defense arts. The fifth cold hell allows Guren to use, in addition to new arts, powered-up versions of all cold hell arts up to the fifth in exchange of using her own flesh and blood as ice. The sixth cold hell allows Guren to power up her arts using blue ice, which never melts until magically dispelled by her. The seventh hell lets Guren use forbidden techniques true to her name, the Crimson Lotus Predatory Arts. In theory, the eighth hell, which is currently dominated by Ootakemaru's reality-bending powers, allows Guren to use Ootakemaru's predatory arts as her own. If Guren does use the eigth cold hell, she will change drastically physically and mentally, achieving an ascended form. There is an imperial decree that was issued strictly for preventing her from tapping into the power of the eighth cold hell.

Curse Resistance (Guren)

Due to her special training as a youkai hunter, she has natural resistance to curses. Guren is able to resist the curses originating from her Eight Cold Hells so they do not get in her way mid-fight most of the time, though letting her guard down even momentarily will make her give in to the curses. Guren is able to completely suppress curses from up to the fourth cold hell. Guren is able to only delay the effects of curses from the fourth to seventh cold hell. The eighth cold hell is currently sealed away and so Guren cannot access it own her own, but if she does, the fearsome Ootakemaru would immediately break free from within her.

Partial Hammerspace

Has the ability to temporarily limit belly/breast/butt size and/or height for more mobility. Wears off if user loses concentration on maintaining it. The belly, breasts, and butt are each magically contained independently, so sometimes only the belly immediately swells when the ability malfunctions, while the breasts/butt do so in other times. It is possible for multiple hammerspaces to malfunction at the same time. Also, the limiter do not fully limit the user's weight, so the belly is way heavier than it looks for example.

Absorption (Guren)

The user is capable of absorbing victims with their body on contact. In Guren's case, any part that she is currently "holding in" could absorb living beings when enough pressure is applied, whether she does so voluntarily or not. This most commonly happens whenever her partial hammerspace abilities malfunction.

Navel Pouch (Guren)

The user is capable of storing objects in their navel. In Guren's case, she has enough space to store most items she carries around. One could fit an entire person in there. With Yozora's spells, Guren's navel pouch can be made safe to enter for everyone without risk of absorption, albeit only temporarily. Due to her navel pouch, Guren's navel can burp, much to her embarrassment.

Multiple Stomachs (Guren)

Guren has multiple stomachs due to her special body being fine-tuned to using the Eight Cold Hells.

Beef Tongue (Guren)

Being part cow, she has a very long tongue. She's quite embarrassed about this but she does make full use of it when necessary.

Guren's Thick Milk

Having cow features, Guren's breast milk is quite nutritious and her breasts can't stop producing them. If left unattended her breasts get quite massive in a matter of days, potentially even undoing her bindings if they accumulate for enough. Also, her milk has the effect of making people who drink it gain a lot of weight while also stimulating belly and breast growth.

Youkai Hunter, Warrior Type (High Rank)

Having undergone strict and intensive youkai hunting training, the user's body is suitable for combat, has enhanced resistance to adverse Seiryoku effects. Warrior type has supernatural strength and endurance, as well as expertise in close to medium range combat. High rank also means the user's either famous or infamous for their notable deeds and that they have the experience and high-level skills to back them up.

Youkai Hunter Art: Youkai Slayer

Her weapons and predatory arts are all capable of slaying a youkai permanently, preventing them from eventually respawning.

Youkai Hunter Art: Spiritual Tracking

Youkai hunters can detect the presence of souls, and whether it's human, animal, or youkai, much better than the average person. This lets them pinpoint their allies' and foes' location/distance, and for higher ranking youkai hunters, it might be possible to see foes and allies through obstacles as well.

Youkai Hunter Art: Spiritual Shroud

Youkai hunters can effectively silence their souls, supressing their presence and camouflaging themselves against youkai, appearing nearly invisible to them while still being visible to humans. Some youkai have their own shrouds and are able to hide themselves from humans in a similar manner.

Youkai Hunter Art: Warding Talisman

Due to shrine maiden training being part of the requirements of becoming a youkai hunter, youkai hunters are able to create/fix warding talismans that prevent most lower to mid level evil youkai to enter its area of effect. Ideal for setting up camp in dangerous locations. It takes about an hour to complete making or fixing a talisman.

Crimson Lotus Nodachi

Guren's signature magical weapon. It was crafted by an expert blacksmith, but the raw materials came from Guren's own flesh and blood she had frozen with her own powers. Its size, weight, and durability represent her neverending guilt and self-loathing. She can use her sword's magical properties without triggering her curse as the "price" has already been paid when she made its materials, however drawing more power from it than she initially imbued it with will trigger another curse.

Predatory Arts, First Cold Hell: Frost Breath

Due to Guren's belly hell, her breath is quite chilly. If she uses enough Seiryoku, she's able to belch blizzards and freeze everything in her path, as well as literally pelting targets with icy burps.

Predatory Arts, First Cold Hell: Mudwalker

No terrain disadvantage will be too great for Guren as long as she has enough Seiryoku to maintain this art. Guren is also able to walk on water by freezing the surface with each step. True to its name, swamps and marshes do not hinder Guren's movement as much as they would normally. Uneven footing in general also has a lesser effect on Guren's mobility.

Predatory Arts, First Cold Hell: Frost Leap

Allows Guren to make mid-air jumps by creating ice platforms in the air and then propelling herself.

Predatory Arts, Second Cold Hell: Cold Stare

Guren can use Seiryoku to make her eyes slowly freeze the target she is looking at, hindering their movements. Unlike Permafrost, this effect spreads rather slowly.

Predatory Arts, Second Cold Hell: Cold Blood Intimidation

While Guren might not have as much natural Seiryoku as Garuda, Guren can borrow Seiryoku from her cold hells to artificially create an intimidating predator's aura even more fearsome than her sister's. If the intended target is affected, they will be afflicted with chilling visions of how the Eight Cold Hells look like and get briefly stunned in place (or stagger/flinch if they're a stronger opponent) until the illusion wears off.

Predatory Arts, Second Cold Hell: Icy Howl

Guren can use Seiryoku to make the ice in her nodachi clash and vibrate, emmiting an ear-piercing shriek to briefly interrupt or immobilize targets within its effective range.

Predatory Arts, Third Cold Hell: Cold Flash

Guren can use Seiryoku to make a quick draw slash that deals ice damage.

Predatory Arts, Third Cold Hell: Frost Slash

Guren can use Seiryoku to turn shockwaves from her nodachi's slashes into medium-range ice blade projectiles.

Predatory Arts, Third Cold Hell: Blooming Lotus

Guren makes multiple Frost Slashes in quick succession, attacking all angles at the same time. The shockwaves look as if they form a blooming lotus flower.

Predatory Arts, Fourth Cold Hell: Oni's Might

Guren can use Seiryoku to improve her physical qualities even further to be comparable to that of an oni.

Predatory Arts, Fourth Cold Hell: Ice Armor

Guren can use Seiryoku to shield herself with ice. This ice can also be used to "combo" into other cold hell arts.

Predatory Arts, Fourth Cold Hell: Frozen Wounds

Guren is able to temporarily stabilize/cauterize her wounds with ice. The fifth cold hell version of this lets her completely heal her wounds, even fatal ones, at great Seiryoku cost.

Predatory Arts, Fifth Cold Hell: Bleeding Lotus

Even if her limbs are rendered unusable, Guren is still able to control her body by turning her blood into ice using Seiryoku. This art is particularly versatile when Guren is bleeding. While this art is active, Guren's also able to automatically deliver a counter-attack no matter how much damage she has sustained.

Predatory Arts, Sixth Cold Hell: Permafrost

By concentrating Seiryoku into her eyes, Guren is able to make blue ice quickly burst out of the target her vision's focusing on, completely freezing them in ice that never melts. As a side effect, Guren's eyes get partially frozen and makes her temporarily blind. Extended use of this skill can lead to permanent loss of vision.

Predatory Arts, Sixth Cold Hell: Ice Forge

Allows Guren to create temporary weapons and armor of unrivaled durability, or upgrade existing ones. Guren is able to create and equip full armor made out of ice. Guren's can temporarily upgrade her nodachi to be nearly indestructible while also making its attacks have cold hellflame properties. Those struck by her sword are afflicted with cursed ice that turns into Permafrost ice if left alone.

Predatory Arts, Seventh Cold Hell: Cold Hell's Gate

Guren uses massive amounts of Seiryoku to drag her target, along with her, into a pocket dimension that mimics the environmental conditions of the Eight Cold Hells, with Guren being immune to it.

Predatory Arts, Seventh Cold Hell: Avalanche

A super-powered Frost Slash designed to take down massive targets or structures. Its effective range is enough to slice a mountain in half.

Predatory Arts, Seventh Cold Hell: Snowfall

While Guren can normally make her belly expand to its actual size by simply releasing all hammerspace limiters to her belly, Guren can use massive amounts of Seiryoku to make it grow even larger and faster, essentially making a belly bomb that can devastate large areas due to its sheer size and growth speed.

Predatory Arts, Eigth Cold Hell: Endless Winter

By using Ootakemaru's reality-bending Seiryoku, Guren is able to create an expanding hellscape starting from where she's standing. This essentially rewrites the reality around her to be the same as the eigth cold hell.

Predatory Arts, Eigth Cold Hell: Greater Crimson Lotus Kijin

Unknown territory. It is unclear what happens when Guren uses this predatory art.

Trivia

• Guren's default belly size, with her limiters on, is still the biggest of the cast. When fully unleashed, her belly easily reaches the size of a city.

• In theory, Guren could absorb the entire planet with her belly, though that is unlikely to happen.
