Basic Information

Anatomy

An engineered species, the ancient Davos tinkered with their Genome, trying to create a breed of ultimate soldiers, tough, but lightweight, agile. Breeding in ungulate and corvid genes, they ended up with the Grim, whose high centre of gravity, smooth muscles and vestigial wings, as well as keen senses make them a terror of the spaceways.

Genetics and Reproduction

A constructed race, their reproduction was an afterthought, originally thought to be sterile, a freak mutation allowed a small number of them to procreate. At first rare, this ended up being the only genetic line enduring to this day by simply outlasting the sterile forms. Grim are outraged and resent the Davos quite a bit for this.

Growth Rate & Stages

A Grim baby's birth height and weight is 20% greater than a corresponding Davos baby, and similarly at each stage until they reach their adult form.

Facial characteristics

A proeminent nose is a characteristic they find pleasing, they consider it indicates an individual is forthright and honest, conversely, finer features are associated with shiftiness in their culture.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

They keep flightless birds, flying birds long-nosed dogs and lizards as pets, exclusively. They will go out of their way to kill cats and short-nosed dogs, due to their mythology.

They live in the moment, and want to be impressed by other civilisation's commitment, loyalty and intensity, they see nothing wrong with... experimentation.

Average Physique

As an engineered species, especially an engineered species whose muscle mass is mostly from muscles repurposed from wing muscles, an average Grim is terryfingly fit, looming tall, muscular and with hands larger than proportionate. A Grim fist can deliver impressive 40% higher pressure per unit area than a Davos, partly due to leverage. Their dexterity however, is lower, they have thicker skin, and it's nerves are equally sensitive, so their touch is "dimmed" compared to Davos and, especially, Sapphidos, and they touch with large, thick-set fingers. They are not unable to use technology, write, etc.. Only their vision has for most of their history, been able to see details finer than they could reproduce. The modern Grim have fixed this through technology, and enjoy miniaturized art forms, delicate calligraphy and the like. For that reason, calling a modern Grim unsophisticated is a very stinging insult, one they'll want to wash away with blood.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

Grim skin is dark grey, slate grey, dark blue, and similar, corvid tones. Dark hair is common, and blonde and similar colours, almost unknown. Platinum blonde hair only occurs in albinism, which occurs in 0.001% of the population.
