It was in the final moments of the battle that Azrovil was inflicted with the wound. The combatants of Djanrol all seemingly leaving the plane to take up their defenses in the planes beyond. A burst of magic lashed onto the world and caused chaos for all those who remained in the plane. The intense heat of the magic wave scorching the land around it and leaving a crater no less than ten miles wide.— A scholar's recounting of the creation of Void's Death.
Void's Death is the indentation left from the wave of magic that came from
The Shatter. Particularly it came from the mortal wounding of
Azrovil by
Djanrol in the early days of The Shatter.
Description
The crater is located at the center of the
Slycol Desert. Even centuries after the wounding of Azrovil by Djanrol, the temperature seems to be consistently at a boiling point and scorches most if not all figures who enter the location.
Several groups have attempted to cool the area and start to grow an oasis from the streams of water that would once flow from the spring in the ground. However, every attempt made to reconstruct any of the missing settlements that were even nearby have gone for naught. There are several types of elemental creatures who seem to exist only within the crater and cannot move beyond it.
History
According to the
Mellisan D'Orvinas Provinciale, a document keeping track of some historical links with The Shatter, the creation of Void's Death took place in the beginning half of The Shatter. Its unclear as to the exact timeline of events, but its clear that prior to the creation of Void's Death, the lands were lush plains with several settlements in their place.
The description of the creation is very vauge as the closest individuals who were able to see the wave of magic were several miles from the edge, let alone the epicentre of the magical wave. The descriptions say it looked like a pitch black darkness, like a void and impossiblly empty wave that burst along the region. Many of the descriptions talk about an intense heat that scorched grass to the very edges of its wave.
Those who were further from the edge of the wave describe it as a large orb that pushed itself forwards and upwards. It looked similar to a giant orb of darkness that caused panic among the many individuals who were close enough to witness it.
Ooo, terrifying that it is still boiling hot there, even years and years later. I'm curious about the creatures that *are* able to live within its boundaries.
