Terathol are a celestial creature that originate from the Astral Plane. They are often linked to a specific object that allows for one to summon them into existence. The Terathol bond with the objects owner through a magical connection.
Description
Appearance
Similar to panthers, the Terathol have a thick black fur that coats their entire body. What defines them from their beastial relation is their deep purple eyes and strange tail. While panthers have a tail that weaves in a straight line, the terathol have a long winding tail that ends in a small plume of feathers with a black and purple coloration. Also different from their beastial counterpart is the golden rings of energy that surround the form of the terathol.
Abilities
There are some abilites that are unique to each Terathol. These are granted to them as a gift for their dedication to service under
Mandra or another deity. However, there are a few abilites that are shared between all Terathol:
- Keen Senses – The terathol has advantage on checks to notice other creatures.
- Pounce – If the terathol moves straight toward a creature and hits them with an attack, they must steady themselves or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the terathol can easily bite at the creature.
- Redirect Attack – When they can see an attack coming, a terathol can change places with any creature within 5 feet og them.
History
Terathol were first created in
The Dawning as followers of Mandra. There was an intent for them to remain as protectors of the natural realm and to hold the world stable in times of need. As the years past however, the mortals began to learn how to harness the divine power of such creatures and capture them within ornate glass beads. These beads would then be attatched to necklaces, braclets, and other forms of jewlery to allow for quick use of such a creature.
After
The Shatter, such items are coveted and a bond is quickly formed between the Terathol and the owner of such items. The creatures are relics of a time long past and as such the presence of one can hold a powerful weight among even the most knowledgable of scholars. There have been rumors that there exist some Terathol that were present for the beginning of society itself, those who helped to influence early life to the level it has now achieved.
