Forest Dragon

The Forest Dragon is a rare creature that inhabits the dense brush of forests across the Material Plane and Fae Lands.

Description

Appearance

Their scales were an emerald green, but their eyes and skull were like bone. Trees sprouted from their back up into the sky, moss covering their hide. It was only when I saw their size that I knew we were in trouble.
The Forest Dragon can be recognised because of its large skull-like shielding around its head. A smooth ivory exo-skeleton protecting the head. Within these scales, many Forest Dragons have carved ancient druidic symbols in the ivory looking armor.   A Forest Dragon has two large ears that point out from either side of its face, almost flopping down due to their weight. The Forest Dragon has lower legs to allow them to stay closer to the ground. Each of their wings are a deep brown colour and extend outwards as they rest, almost acting as a cover for the Forest Dragon.   A Forest Dragon comes in various shapes and sizes based on their age.
  • A Wyrmling can grow up to 5 ft. long.
  • A Young Dragon can grow up to 10 ft. long.
  • An Adult Dragon can grow up to 15ft. long.
  • An Ancient Dragon can grow up to 20ft. long and beyond.

Abilities

Blighted Breath

A burst of necromantic energy lurches forth from the mouth of the Forest Dragon. It burns and courses through the veins of any creatures within its range. It can launch this barrage a near distance from itself. All plants within the range wither and die, becoming a strange white form from itself.

Chitinous Defense

The scales of the Forest Dragon extend longer than that of others, forming a set of large scaled armors that can defend more against all but the most precise strikes against it. Additionally, each of these Chitinous scales possess an innate sense of magic that bursts when the Forest Dragon is hit with an attack, almost exploding with chaotic magics when they are hit.

Draconic Gifts

Many Dragons in the world of Nonvyrox possess additional gifts ranging from spellcasting through to control over natural energies. Forest Dragons are no different with several of them possessing strange and unique gifts that allow them to take control of the region and lair that they wish to possess.

Society

Forest Dragons are typically solitary creatures, spending the majority of their time alone controlling the region that they have declared their lair. When encountering other dragons, Forest Dragons tend to be territorial and strike out at any that encroach upon their domain. Humanoids and other mortal races are often frowned upon by FOrest Dragons, though some choose to allow those attuned with the natural world to commune with them.   Many Forest Dragons have a fondness for small to medium woodland creatures, allowing them to nest and live among the ecosystem that starts to grow on their backs. As they frow older, Forest Dragons take note of the different families and generations of creatures who have lived among their form.

I love the idea of them hosting an entire ecosystem on their backs. What a beautiful idea.
