The
Cauldius Sect is a group of secret academics from the
Grand Archive of the Obsidian Forge who are aiming to uncover the mysterious effects and historical circumstances of the red moon
Cauldius.
History
After the discovery of Cauldium in 289 AR by the Obsidian Forge, several of its academics came to an understanding that the material and the moon from which it is believed to be derived have some unique and strange properties that needed further exploration. Two of these academics were Seeker Hyla Lanceforth and Maester Terrion Kothranis who attempted to publish writing on such phenomenon. However, this expansion was blocked by their professors under orders from the religious division of the Grand Archive.
From this moment on, the two decided there was something that needed further research that they would need to look outside of their current organization. As a result, the two gathered a few members of academic circles to share their information about the moon together. The group was sworn to an oath of secrecy bound by magic that protected each of them in the case a member of the group was caught. In 579 AR this came to pass as Marster Terrion Kothranis was captured and tortured for knowledge of Cauldius by a radical sect of worshipers. The torture eventually left him unable to continue living. As a result, Hyla Lanceforth left the position of leader to mourn their friend, leaving a close friend and fellow Professor Theran Lyvanis as the only candidate for leader.
As of 755 AR, the group still regularly meet and try to determine the effects of Cauldius' recent flares that have empowered some followers of different individuals. The group has also taken note of how the demigod Kalverinth has been trying to change the image of Red Moon's Eye among many people declaring they are not a betrayer but a misunderstood child. The Sect are still undecided on this but have realised that the moon itself is not necessarily directly linked to the goddess and instead seems to have a strong connection to some other kind of spirit that may be inside or sealed by the moon.
I wonder what they will find out in the end. Poor Terrion.
