Noiri
Noiri are bipedal sentient, tribal race with mild magical essence but a far-traveling Vis. Average lifespan is 75 years. They age very quickly; their prime and beauty in comparison to other races and each other is brief. Their eyes are small and varied in shape; their ears are blunt and round. Their skin is smooth but often covered in patches of hair; scars easily. They have no tail.
General Appearance
Hair is black to dark brown; skin ranges from pale to tan; can have any eye color for Humans. Eyes have moderate epicanthal fold and palpebral slant.
Larger breed. Men are generally somewhat larger than women; they can be equal size. Women have mild risk in childbirth. Men grow modest facial hair.
Culture and Heritage
Geographic origin: Northeast quadrant of the continent: the Steppes, Ice Heart, and Dragon Coast. Some spread toward the West, but they are held back by the Blackbark Forest on the Great Lake’s Northern land bridge. Sailing to go around is now possible but Noiri do not have a history of trying to colonize Yung-An.
Magic
Moderate magical heritage. Mages are known for mystics, arcane and divine studies, life and death magic, shamanistic practices, and elemental sorcery. Weakest elemental magic is Earth. No central focus for magical culture.
Moderate psionic heritage, also a much higher rate of insanity with minimal cultural support available for those born psionic. Insane psions are the source of many ghost and horror stories in the cold North and Steppes prior to the Ma’ab invasion. After the invasion, the two are frequently conflated by Noiri and Ma'ab alike.
