Qualifications

  • Basic education in Alchemic Theory and Practice, 6 months of training at minimum.
  • Basic education of Magic fundamentals, 6 months of training at minimum.
  • Basic training in cooking, one month of training at minimum.
  • Career Progression

    Every Alchemist has started out as a novice, or apprenticed under the tutelage of a more senior alchemist. Under proper tutelage, many apprentices stick to their tutors and work as assistant alchemists.   Those who move on to begin their own alchemical journey of discovery will ususally do so by becoming adventurers, salespeople, or even pharmacists.   Rarely, an alchemist's solo success will flourish from an overwhelmingly intricate understanding of alchemy and can create rare types of potions. Most alchemists who achieve this tend to go and learn from the Sophistics.

    Under most circumstances, the alchemy job market is vast and diverse. Offering opporunities to those who want to carve out their own livable wage. Work evironments include: Military, culinary, research & development, manufacturing, pharmecutical, etc.

    Alchemists tend to get an okay reputation for being a backbone of supply for all sorts of goods. Though like most manufacturing jobs, the work is taken for granted by the common populace.

    In Icarus, alchemy is seen as the poor man's magic and regarded as lesser than magic or tinkering.   In Zeboli, alchemists are the backbone of the fashion world in terms of producing flesh for Liches to wear.   On May-Soph, it is a given that everyone should know basic alchemy at the very least.

    Alchemists often rely on their cookbooks in order to keep track of what ingredients are necessary and what steps to follow. There exists standard commercial cookbooks, but personalized ones will vary from alchemist to alchemist.   Any wise alchemist will also carry upon them a handful of mana crystals for stabilizing recipes without needing to channel their own mana into the mixture.

    Materials

    Mana crystals, water, foils, monster and creature parts (Slime gels are most common).   Generally, common cooking ingredients such as different types of cooking oils, salts, spices, and herbs are also commonly required in certain recipes.

    Workplace

    An alchemy workshop comes inn all shapes and sizes. But at the end of the day, the magic resides in the container with which you are alchemizing.   Some might be kitchens full of bubbling pots, others may look like chemistry labs with distilleries and pressure chambers!

    Legality
    Majority of Alchemy is legal save for recipes that produce illegal products. Additionally, there are recipes in some countries that are banned in others. Flesh recipes, for instance, are banned in Jeidit, Ahresi, and Veil. But are entirely legal in Zeboli and Jembani.
    Famous in the Field
    Alchemy is a broad term fitted with many specializations for production.   Some more commonly known professions tend to dabble in Alchemy on Midbaar. These include but are not limited to: Cosmetics, Cooking, Chemistry, Brewing, etc.
