Myren

This article is a work-in-progress, just getting started! Lots of ideas have been haphazardly dumped here in the meantime! Enjoy!

Thus, they remained, in their gleaming cities and arcane splendor, while we took to the wood. We spit on their cities. We spit on all they build.

The Myren are Eldwrought who often appear in places with strong Leyline activity, developing an aversion to the arcane that aligns with a newly developed dependence on the natural world and the elements.

Children of the Worldspirit

Myren typically appear when shifts in the leylines cause disturbances to primal spirits who, in their frustrations, allow their disdain to seep into the lands around them. Boharin of elemental blood, sharing a kinship with these powerful entities, absorb that disdain in such a way that it becomes a part of them.

Subtle Grounding

Physical transformations among the Myren appear as subtle changes to natural human form, typically occurring as shifts in skin tone and texture, and the reinforcement of certain bodily structures and organs. This can include thickening of the skin, hardening of the bones, or the development of features that may better aid living in less-developed environments.
The individual effects vary depending on which primals are involved, and the elemental affinity of the entities themselves. Adaptations may develop as Myren find themselves needing to live in conditions they are not equipped to handle naturally.

Outcast Rage

As the arcane tends to gather and pool in certain locations, as well as acting as a constant power source, regions with strong magical activity find most of their major settlements riding on the outskirts or sitting at the nexus of such power. As a result, Myren find themselves biologically outcast from civilization by necessity.
Continued exposure to concentrated arcane energy can cause Myren distress, discomfort, and even death as their systems overload with the rage of their primal kin. Even traces of the arcane appearing in the environment can trigger this innate aversion, driving the Myren to isolate themselves further and further with time.

Myren Populations

Cities Unpaved

The Lessai people of the densely-wooded forests of Nimavi are a population of Myren who were forced to abandon their historic city homes due to the transformations to their physiology brought upon by the emergence of the Leyline of Genesis, in addition to the leaching presence of the Leyline of Potency in their major cities. Their connection to nature and their relationship with the spirits of the forest brought them to shun the arcane, and left them with a dependence to the functions of the natural world.

Volcanic Churn

In the most active corners of Bolkan, one population of Myren hide away in the bubbling caves of the mountains. Fortifying themselves against the brunt of the Leyline of Agitation's energy, they make their homes among the lava pools and share these blistering homes with the primal spirits of flame who arose from their slumber alongside the emergence of the leyline.
