Fox trappers are hunters who specialize in hunting foxes, either for sport or for pest control. The legality of fox hunting varies wildly region by region and is based strongly in public perception of the sly creatures.

Terran Forests and the Harvest Belt

The forests which border Terramarre's Harvest Belt offer ample space to roam and shelter for native foxes. Their proximity to nearby farms, however, has proven incredibly problematic, as foxes who stray far from the forest have been a known cause of bloodied coops and lost pets for centuries. As such, fox hunters are frequently hired to manage populations and discourage roaming.

The Foxhills of Uris Braena

There is one region in which hunting foxes is explicitly illegal, and that is in the Foxhills region of Uris Braena. Despite regulation and severe punishments for violating this law, there are several hunters who continue to lay their traps in this forbidden locale, seeking to make hefty profits from the parts and pelts of these elusive foxes.

There always seems to be demand for fox pelts, and someone is always willing to deliver.

Public opinion of foxes seems to vary greatly, population by population. In regions such as Uris Braena, where raising small, frail livestock is relatively uncommon, foxes are not seen as a great threat to the average herder's livelihood. In other regions where this is the opposite case, foxes are seen as a destructive pest and no one thinks twice about culling them to preserve their flock.
