2049-11-7 Statement from Global Health Council
Date: 7/11/2049
NEW BRIDGERTON - Recent rumors have been swirling regarding the potential of a new virus that has been identified. The Global Health Council is aware of the news reports and it is the Council's opinion that these rumors must be addressed before they become too entrenched to refute. The Council is committed to getting the best information to citizens and combating incorrect and misleading information.
A new virus has indeed been identified by the researchers at Autogenomic Labs. This virus, labeled PNDV-1, is a novel virus that has not been seen prior to this effort in DNA sequencing.
At this time, there have been no significant outbreaks. The cases that have been identified have shown some resistance to strong antibiotics, but the Council does not consider this virus a high risk.
Rumors of an entire town in the northeast of the continent being completely wiped out by the virus are completely untrue. There have been some severe cases, but at no time was a town evacuated or were there significant deaths from this virus. However, as a point of precaution, it is recommended that citizens avoid travel to the region in an abundance of caution.
The Council is watching this virus carefully and will make recommendations for further action should it be necessary.
