Tel-al-devir Awakening

Reports from around the Known World flood into the taverns, keeps, government offices, between ships, among traders, and internally among the members of the Artifact Agreement and descretely among members of the Order of Eight. Rumours swirl about the great end of the world coming as strange undefeatable beings walk the lands. Others talk about beings a demons, flying or walking over the lands, sends rays of power reshaping the lands. The appearance of the being are generally the same, about two to three meters tall, while others say they are ten meters tall, and one ship captain claims he saw the head of one which was larger than his merchantman ship as the being apparently walked on the bottom of the ocean, but most think he had way to much rum to drink that night, or got ahold of some bad food.   Those reports consist of strange all black beings walking the lands, not responding to interactions, or seen flying above the waters in an upright fashion, fixated but unresponsive to outside stimuli. In the few cases where they were directly attacked, the attackers were quickly struck down with raw magics or covered with large chunks of land which came from the beings.

What's Really Happening

The Tel-al-devir in some parts of the known world, and some of the areas just outside the known world have begun to wake up after being asleep for millions of years. The only way for a Tel-al-devir to function is to receive commands from a deity with instuctions. The first of the new aspects has arisen, the first since the Dragon and Diety War led to the elimination of all of the aspects. Nature being a massive influence on the Displaced , not only the druids, but all of the agriculture, timber, hunters, nature lovers, many of the adventurers, and all those who practice gathering.   The aspect of nature has been found by the Plane of Karenth in the elf Vela Wolfstentain (Velu Wulfstxntaan), a relative recluse who lives in the forests and mountains of eastern Karenth Centralis, Continent of. Even though she spends most of her time alone, she is known by many people throughout the small towns, farms, and cities of the east, as she travelled many of them in her past, periodically returning on a semi-regular basis.   Vela was a past member of the Archivists, leaving as she got older. People see her as the epitome of living one with nature, and it is this admiration, respect, and reverence, willingly given, from so many which brought upon her the gift of immortality. Only one other knows that she has been gifted the power of immortality, Leaf Swiftarrow, the ancient silver elf. Vela continues to wander the land from time to time, healing it from its dark past.   When Vela left the Archivists, she took with her a number of artifacts and books that she convieniently forgot to catalog and document. She would hide them in her haversack of holding. Among those books was a particullary ancient tome written of the vellum of some magic creature. With the help of a Nethen Scope, she learned to read the tome, even though it was written in a tongue far older than even Nethen. The book was entitled The Creation of the Plane, written by an unknown author, although Vela theorizes it was written by a god.   Within that book was an in depth discussion of experiments conducted by various gods and the creation of a being known as the Tel-al-devir or mountain dweller. Most importantly it talked about the magics of the plane, often vaguely, but when it comes to the creation or changes of lands and seas, the book goes into great detail about the programming of the Tel-al-devir. Vela memorized the book cover to cover and then hid the book away where it will probably never be found, on a pocket dimension of Karenth. The book also spoke briefly of the creation of worlds created outside of Karenth, but linked to them dimensionally and magically.   Vela seeks to learn more of her capabilities, not only to strengthen the Displaced and their ability to survive, but to reach out to the lands of Karenth, to spread her people, and her disire to protect the wilds. The archivist in her still thrives on curiousity and so she seeks to learn about the past of this world.   Being young in her powers, she tried calling on the Tel-al-devir to awaken, but sensed no effect. She fails to realize that she has woken most of the minor Tel-al-devir within 4000 miles or so, and they have started the mission she wished of them, to protect nature and repair what was done during past wars. As this is not much of command to work off of and limited scope of what the Tel-al-devir are capable, they have started replacing man made structures, old and new, with nature. As they move along they are making their way to the outskirts of the plane to continue building new nature within the world.   This could make for an amazing story for adventurers. The Tel-al-devir, being directly immune to magic and attack, would require some kind of quest to stop them, probably finding their way to Vela and having her trek with them to figure out what's going on. Another option would be to have the party seek ancient knowledge to stop the Tel-al-devir. Perhaps the Nethen had a way, or other ancient texts exist that contain enough information to stop the threat.
