Centralis Desert

Located in the center of Karenth Centralis, is the major desert known as the Centralis Desert. It is a relatively barren area with desert plants scattered about throughout the desert. Cacti, yucca, sagebrush and drought tolerant grasses dot the landscape as far as the eye can see. Throughout the regious are rock outcroppings and mesas which decorate the horizon.
Due to the extreme lack of percipitation and standing bodies of water, much of the region is barren of major life save for some reptiles, small mammels and insect that survive in the harsh region.
The temperatures during the day are often around 100 degrees farenheit and drop down near freezing during the nights.
The soils are vacant of most nutrients and little additional nutrient comes up from the ground to fortify the plants.
Sentient creatures do no spend much time in the desert except for a number of desert dragons, who spend most of their time in hibernation, and venture out to feed every ten years or so. Normally they will head off to the rich plains of the west seeking the megafauna of the grasslands like buffalo and Grona.
There is a road, following the coast, at the northern part of the desert, which leads to the Oasis on the Edge. This road normally has several travelers who will trade goods with passerbys going the other direction, especially water, as the stretch of land is almost 200 miles and mostly barren. This road is part of an old Nethen road and is made of fitted stones, still in good condition thousands of years later. There are parts where frost heaving has caused some damage.
