Ethereal Onion

Of the handful of fabled crops that grow on the Rocky Peaks of Seal Key, ethereal onions are the only one I have ever seen, rather than just heard stories of.

I've always dreamed of trying an ethereal onion; ever since I saw a glimpse of it. They look absolutely divine, especially with their little glow. They are one of the only purple crops on the planet, and I find them fascinating because of it.

Location

Ethereal onions grow on the tallest peaks of the Rocky Cliffs on Seal Key. The people that live at these peaks are experts in harvesting them, and know exactly where they grow. They prefer shaded areas, and you can tell when they are ripe because they glow through the soil.

Arilats

The Arilats are a small group of Moroll that live on the Rocky Peaks. They have knowledge of the environment like no other, and can scale the mountains in mere minute. They are the only people that deal with the onions and the other legendary crops on a daily basis, and they keep the crops to themselves because of their rarity.

Ethereal Soup Recipe

Ethereal Onion

Water

Other vegetables, your choice

Instructions

Prepare a pot with a small amount of water.

Dice your ethereal onions as well as your other vegetables.

Place vegetables in the pot of water and simmer. If at the correct temperature the onions will break apart and turn the soup an orchid purple colour.

If you prefer the soup without chunks, blend the vegetables.

Once at the preferred temperature and thickness, turn off the heat and serve.

I mayyyy have stolen this recipe from an Arilat when I was visiting their village a few years ago. But it was worth it, because my onion article is rather uninteresting without it. And also it gives people the false hope that they can make it too, which is always nice.
