The Job

Pixzie takes a mysterious job offer at the recommendation of a friend
Wed, May 20th 2026 04:56

The meeting spot was a bit out of the way, partly because The Job provider wanted to be away from crowds, and partly because The Job receiver needed an escape route in case things went south. (Or their boss decided it was more profitable to snatch the guy instead of work for him, let's be real)   It was hard to find a spot in Ciarn that met those criteria though, at least in the city proper. They hand decided on a little landbar near the coast, just big enough to do what needed doing.   It was early morning, the sun was still rising, its rays glittering off the ocean like liquid gold. So early people on the border were still shut in from the night, colossi might still be roaming. But that wasn't an issue this far in to the city, none of the little ones ever made it past the HardLight shield, and the large ones didn't really mess with the city.
The Job provider grunted indignantly, questioning why he'd agreed to cone all the way out here, even though it was partly his idea.   Should have bullied al classmate into it. Maybe that Bernard guy.. heh nerd But bulling people into doing what you want was a pain in the ass, way too much work. He avoided work at all costs, lest he end up in another mess like back home. Bluh.   Thats why he was hireing someone else in the first place, to avoid work.   Was it a good idea to hire someone he met through Cabo and Ezchar? No, definitely not.   Ug what made him get out of bed so damn early? And without dragging Ludonc with him...

She was going to be late there was no doubt about it. She'd been so busy yesterday running around for her mom and sister that low and behold she woke up and the stock was gone....Down more favor and from some of the last people left willing to work with them, great. Somehow through a miracle of extra planning Pixzie had managed to scrounge up what she needed so they didn't get murdered in their sleep. Now she could head to the city to meet this guy.   Pixzie had been so strung out looking for work lately that she'd barely read the message Ezchar sent her before accepting. She really didn't have much of a choice after all, needing to keep finding things to keep her family afloat.   As she began to head into the city the route was unfamiliar but the kind of travel was. At least she didn't have to actually go into the city, but she figured whoever she'd be meeting wouldn't be stupid enough to meet her in a big gaggle of people.   Thankfully despite her unfamiliarity with the area she was familiar with finding things. So she found the thing she was looking for, or more accurately the Benuvi she was looking for. At first she was hesitant to make herself known. Even for a vie she was small, although being small had it's advantages.   She was already late though and she had a lot to do so there was no use beating around the bush. "Hey," What else was there for her to say, she was late, but she wasn't going to apologize for it. Instead she just stood her ground green eyes studying him.
The benuvi in question was draped unceremoniously on a bench, looking more like discarder laundry than an opportunity for some quick favor. He didn't respond to her 'Hey' with anything more than a shrug, very improper for a student of the prestigious Ciarn University.   Ezchar had warned her was kind of a dickhead, but this was on a new level.   Not that her greeting had been all that proper, mind you. Even among friends people didn't talk to casually. Well not city people, She wasn't a city people by any stretch.   Irma pried his eyes off the coast line, finally, and looked up at his possible employee.   "Kinda short huh? And fat." He mimed a pinching motion, as if he wanted to do such a thing to her.

Pixzie took a few steps forward with his shrug. It was odd, but this whole situation was kind of odd. He was a dickhead whatever she could handle dickhead, at least she thought she could.   With his comment the color drained from her face and then quickly returned in a bright blue. She was livid, in the three seconds that she had spent in this guys presence she was livid. This was going to be an amazing job opportunity for sure.   Her hands balled into fists and she could feel her claws digging into her palms. Pixzie had to keep cool she needed this after all, but she couldn't fully help herself.   "Yeah well it's a miracle you made it into university if the first thing you can think to say to someone is that. Is there any brain in that head at all or should I just turn tail and leave because it's already sounding like you've got nothing for me" She hissed out clear vitriol in her voice, but she didn't attack him so...better than she could have handled it.
The bored look on his face transformed into a delighted, if mischievous, smirk. He didn't get this sort of reaction outside of the source.   Everyone always had to round about things with proper manners and shocked expressions and gasps of dismay.   This was so much better. Pure unfiltered impolight naked rage, she looked like she wanted to strangle him. He kinda hoped she'd try.   "Heh heh heh, yeah I only got in cause my family. Shits not fair, right?"   Her angry face sparked a feeling in him.. he wasn't sure what it was. Somewhere between his feelings for Halien and his feelings for Ludonc. Which is to any feeling at all other than disinterest or the ever present urge to destroy everything that had blood gushing through it like a million whispering voices he needed to shut up lest they drive him mad. Ya known, the usual.   "So, what are your measurements, Stubby?" He sat up a bit more like a person, fully invested in whatever this interaction was.

Polite society didn't come to her easily though she picked up much more than the rest of her ragtag 'crew'. This though, should couldn't muster a gasp of dismay and then throwing this under the rug.   Fuck he sucked. It's like he knew right where to press to get under her skin, despite never even speaking to her. "I can't imagine how much favor they waste on you so you can keep your spot,"   She managed to unball her fists and make her way a few steps closer, but she stopped. She realized that the closer she was to him the more tempted she might be for physical violence, especially if he kept this shit up. So she decided to keep her distance.   She scoffed at him "What's with your obsession with my weight anyway, you some sort of weird pervert freak?" Pixzie did not in fact know what the job was as Ezchar was pretty high when she offered the suggestion.
"More than its worth, for sure." He chuckled, though his mirth took a bit of a hit when she stopped coming for him. Damn.   Her calling him a perverted freak was new. Well Freak he was used to, but perverted? Shit he probably was... why did he suddenly feel embarrassed? He hadn't felt even slightly bad for his actions since he was a kid, and here was was feeling embarrassed.   His face colored a little, gold showing through his colorless fur. "Y-your the one that took the job." He muttered, his smug insults lost for the moment.

Pixzie was most certainly getting carried away now. "Well let me give you a lesson since that school of yours seems to not be. Some of us can't just eat out of our lili and riri's hands, so we have to take opportunities when they arise." She was starting to get worried about what this job actually was.   "But I have some self respect so if the job is sleeping with you than I'm not taking it. I'd rather ride on a colossi." She uttered the name without a semblance of hesitation. Bravery or stupidity who knew, but that was certainly something unheard of in the city.   "I hope I'm misunderstanding you and that's not why I'm here." She crossed her arms starting to get impatient. If this is all for nothing she was going to be mad. She really needed the favor that this rich kid could offer her.
Her ranting was starting to help him get over his sudden shyness, right up until she said the word aloud. He hadn't heard anyone even mutter about them since moving to the city.   His fur stood on end like it was electrically charged and a shiver ran through his spine. His half focused eyes suddenly sharpened and he nearly perched on the edge of the bench to look at her. His normally large round pupils, like all Vie had, narrowed to slits. His hair, bound in half braids, almost seemed to move on its own accord, desperate to be free of its constraints.   It wasn't for but a moment though, and he came back to reality, the world slipping back out of focus. "Heh, you took a job without knowing was it was? What a dumbass. Where did Mountebank find you? The dumpster?"
Wed, May 20th 2026 05:04

She wasn't paying the most attention she ever had to him but she noticed a reaction to saying, well you know. It wasn't hard for her to chalk it up to him being from the city, she typically wouldn't have ever said it around anyone here but she was particularly pissed off at this guy.   She gritted her teeth "You're one to call me a dumbass. I'm not dumb I can just do a lot. I didn't figure to clarify I since I assumed whoever I was meeting would know what they wanted me to do and could tell me." She looked him up and down "So what is it that you want me to do," It wasn't said like a question but more of a demand.   Hopefully whatever he needed would either be quick or she could get it done far away from him.
He looked her up and down, though it was more like he was looking though her than actually at her.   "Well how can I tell you now? Don't want to disappoint you." He chuckled, knowing him not saying it now was bound to annoy her. And he liked annoying her. Usually he did it just to keep people away, no one ever made it fun like in person.   He stopped again when he realized what he was implying and flopped back on the bench like a discarded handkerchief. "I need a model for my clothing line or something. Changing clothes and taking pictures is a pain."   Considering he was dressed in a disheveled improperly styled university uniform, it was hard to fathom he might be telling the truth.

Momentarily she tensed up, still not really being able to tell if this was supposed to be prostitution. "I don't know if you could disappoint me anymore" She muttered under her breath.   Pixzie still stayed with the little bit of hope that it was something else and thankfully for her it was. She blinked at him surprised. "You....you need a model?" She could do it and she absolutely would, she needed to. It's just? Such an odd request. Modeling wasn't exactly the typical havokbreaker job. "I um....yeah sure whatever?"   "You know I'm like,,,I mean you know the kind of stuff I usually do right?" Pixzie didn't know why she was offering that up, just take the easier job dumbass.
"Nope. Don't know, don't care." Giving that much of a shit sounded suspiciously like work to him. And he wasn't about that life. If he could get away with not designing fashion he so would. But this is what it took to keep himself in a position where he could keep hanging out with Ludonc and playing around in the source, so this was what he was doing.   Yeah his parents got him into the school, but his textile work was what really kept him there. But he wasn't about to admit to her that he was actually being productive. Not when the thought of his skating by on his parent's good will pissed her off so badly.   "Monty said you'd do the job." He shrugged. "Its hard to find someone who'll work with me, believe it or not. I mean, my photographer only does cause he's spying on me for his boss or whatever. Also I think he likes being verbally abused man, he's kind of a freak" As if Irma had any room to talk. "I'll take what I can get. Short stubby chubby dumbasses included."
Wed, May 20th 2026 05:05

Well this was certainly not what she'd been expecting, and she was still trying to figure out whether or not she liked this better. She wouldn't be running from any guards or angry people. No drugs involved which was also strange drugs were almost always involved. No she'd be trying on clothes and getting her picture taken..........   Woah this was like the best job ever. There is no way she's telling that to him though she absolutely could not let him know that she was actually kind of excited.   It wasn't hard to mask the excitement given Irma's next comment. She scowled "Yes I will do your stupid modeling job. Don't expect me to be happy about it though I don't enjoy working with assholes who squander the things they've been given in life." She also continued by giving her his measurements. She knew what exactly he'd need because she often made her own clothes. Nothing to the fashion designer standard but they got the job done of making her not naked.
"Heh heh, looks like you're gunna suffer then." He shrugged at her measurements, not writing them down at all or being more than a used rag on a bench. He could remember them easy enough, hell he'd just about guessed them on his own by looking at her. But he liked being sure. If it didn't fit right then it wouldn't look right and if it didn't look right he'd get annoyed with himself. Well more annoyed than usual. Heh she didn't like him, so what, at least she didn't have to live with him. He was stuck with himself, she really should pity him. Heartless bitch.   "What's your favorite color? Doesn't matter really I'm feeling in the mood to make something green." He had to make something that would appeal to some dipshits visiting from Ncia, so big fluffy dresses. Green was going to be in fashion over there soon, he could feel it. Wouldn't last long, they were too obsessed with themselves over there to stray from pink for long. Source be real he was sick of making pink dresses. Maybe black would be better. Heh. They'd hate that.

She rolled her eyes and sighed, looks like she was. It's not like Pixzie could catch breaks at any time anyway. Home, work, it was always filled with some force determined to cut her down at the knees. This though, this guy? As much as she hated to acknowledge it the things she could get from his favor would be worth spending 1000 hours dealing with him calling her fat.   If only Irma knew what she had to deal with at home, he should be the one pitying her actually.   "If it's didn't matter why'd you ask?" She rolled her eyes again this time harder, they were looking like they could just disappear into her skull at this point. "But I guess I'm in luck, green is my favorite color. So um how is this going to work anyway do I just need to wait for you to be ready for me and then I come and get pictures taken?"
"I don't know, I've never hired a model before. The school wouldn't give me a manager. Said it was a learning experience or something." He sat up and looked her up and down for a second. "I guess I can make a mock-up or something, and you can try that on. Tell me where it doesn't fit or whatever, and ill adjust it around your big ass. and we'll just go from there?" Honestly for photography it didn't have to be comfortable, it just had to look good. But if it wasn't right it wasn't right. Things just look better when they're comfortable and well fit. it's just how it is. Also the thought of her liking something he made, and hating him for making her like it, got him excited.
Wed, May 20th 2026 05:22

"Ugh what is your problem! Like you are obsessed with my weight most people don't relentlessly insult their muscles" Ugh she was getting worked up and she really shouldn't be it was just feeding him. "Whatever yeah that works sounds easy." She huffed out   "Do you want like my source name so you can get ahold of me without having to dig Ezchar out of her high?" she kicked at the sand trying to calm herself back down so he wouldn't get the satisfaction of getting a rise out of her.
"Body shapes are important for my work, what do you want from me?" Irma answered with a malevolent grin. If it didn't bother her he'd have moved on to something else, he was pretty sure. Also it was cute and a nice change of pace. He was sick of making garments for common bodies.   "Yeah, what is it, TallBitch290 or something?"
Wed, May 20th 2026 05:23

"No but yours has got to be Stupiddumbasshole45" she hissed out "If body types are so important for your work then maybe you should quit having a problem with mine, I work just fine and I bet based on the way you're struggling to be upright I could beat you at any kind of athletic feat." Oh yeah she did actually need to give him her information. had they even introduced themselves?   "My username is ardentPersuasion, and my name is Pixzie by the way. not that it matters you'll probably only call me fat" she scoffed "so very creative that it's the only thing you can think to say"
"Heh heh heh good one. Maybe I should change it." He seemed particularly amused by that. "Never said I had a problem with it, Shorty."   "You could beat me any day." Irma muttered, not realizing he was talking aloud.   "But na, mines boring. notoriousVisinary. Doesn't really fit at all, does it? Name's Irmano, you can call me Stupiddumbasshole45 for short."
Wed, May 20th 2026 05:24

"Oh wonderful I much preferStupiddumbasshole45, maybe I'll occasionally just call you 45 if I don't feel like uttering what we both already know" She watched him from the bench and then shifted awkwardly not really knowing what to do. She was kind of expecting having like a job right this second and not like 'hey I've gotta make you clothes.'   She could just leave, but she didn't. For some reason Jumon knows why she didn't walk away and wait for him to contact her later. No she opened her mouth and asked him another question. "how long do you think it should take before you need me?"
"Uh.. guess it depends on how inspired I am. I mean, I guess you could come watch me sketch some stuff if you need something to do." It was a bad idea, he knew it as soon as it left his stupid dumb asshole 45 face. Ludonc would hate having someone around, and Irma himself was not prepared for that many people in his studio.. an enclosed space with living people in it... not his favorite. School was hell.
Wed, May 20th 2026 05:26

"I don't really have a lot of free time and sitting around you while you insult me and scrunch your nose up at a sketchpad doesn't exactly sound like a fun use of that time" she shook her head "I don't need something to do I need jobs,"   She should probably go she literally had a couple pounds of pink on her that she needed to trade with collage kids.   "But it's fine I'll have the time when you need me I was just curious. do you- " She was about to ask him if he wanted drugs but if he wasn't looking for a drug dealer with this job maybe it wasn't a good idea to just uh ask him that "uh nevermind I guess I'll go and leave you to whatever stupid work you're gonna do"
Irma tilted his head to the side slightly, now curious what she was going to ask him, but not curious enough to open his mouth again to ask. He'd already made enough mistakes for one meeting. He gave her an hand sign of approval and sank back down onto the bench a bit more, hoping he'd not be ruminating about the conversation for the next 5 hours.
