Heather is a small shrub that can be relied upon to grow all year long. It’s bushy and compact, with leaves that are fine and soft covering its stems like scales. Tiny pink and/or white flowers grow like spiky clusters of bells on its branches. It flourishes on the tops of Moor hills, where its seeds are caught by the wind and carried away to their future homes.
Ecology
One of Bwrdd’s more prolific flowering bushes, heather attracts multiple kinds of pollinators, most notably Moor butterflies. Its attractiveness to many insects unfortunately increases its risk of disease, as it is frequently exposed to creatures from varying regions. As such, diseases originating from heather can make their way as far as the Downs.
Uses in Industry
Heather is among the most popular plants used for decoration, but must be paired with insect-repelling neighbors to avoid attracting swarms. The flowers from this plant are brewed into herbal teas for their calming effects. In Voligenetics, the flowers undergo further processing to better extract their potential for relaxation. Including proper amounts in a mixture will dull pain and aid with resting, but excessive amounts can cause a person to be unable to wake up.
