The Lazy is an unofficial title among the miners of Lower
Shimmer Town in the settlement of
Zarinth.
HISTORY
The title came to be when the management wanted the miners of Shimmer town to do better work. They decided to present their workers with all their stats every month. The worker who had done the best work every month would get their name placed under a sign placed on a wall that all workers would see every day. The sign said "Employee of the Month". Since they let everyone know everyone else's stats, all workers could also see who was at the bottom of the list.
The people in the middle of the list would start to do some "friendly" teasing. The person with the lowest stats would be called "The Lazy" during the entire month. People did not want to be called that. Which meant that production went up.
The management was pleased with the results.
Those who have had the title and a couple of other people have gone to management asking them to not make all stats public but management has not wanted to mess with something that has worked well.
PREVIOUS TITLEHOLDERS
The first holder of the title got it several times in a row and later changed jobs, while the second who got the title didn't much care. He only held it for two months anyway. The third holder of the title died in a mining accident. The fourth went to the management and asked them to do something about the bullying. But nothing happened and to this day the bullying is still ongoing because it is profitable for the management and the other higher-ups.
