Chapter 21 THE NATURE AND MECHANICS OF A HUMAN

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. GENESIS 2:7 NIV
A human is a spirit and soul bound to a body, so intricately interwoven to be inseparable. The human body allows the person to operate in the NAPOX, with their spirit allowing them to operate (see, feel and act) in the SUPOX. For most humans, however, the spirit part of them is either dead or like an infant just born, blind, malnourished, and underdeveloped. Maturity of a person’s spirit does not come with age but with intentional feeding and nourishment.
The Lord, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person. ZECHARIAH 12:1 NIV

Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings? 1 CORINTHIANS 3:1-4 NIV

You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. REVELATION 3:17 NLT
The spirit within a human dies almost at the moment of birth. Like the tiny flame of a candle covered by a blanket, it never stands a chance. Smothered in a sin-saturated NAPOX and deprived of oxygen, it vanishes as quickly as it came. The person joins the ranks of the spirit-dead, surviving on what breath is left from that given at the beginning. When every cell in their body is exhausted, their fragile grip on mortal life will be at an end.
… the widow who lives only for pleasure is spiritually dead even while she lives. 1 TIMOTHY 5:6 NIV

… Jesus told him, “Follow me now. Let the spiritually dead bury their own dead.” MATTHEW 8:22 NLT
A human spirit is ‘reborn’ when the smoldering remnant of their spirit is touched by the Spirit of God. At this point the human, spiritually born anew, crosses over from being among the spirit-dead to being Spiritkind.
“Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.” JOHN 3:6 NIV

… he [Jesus Christ] is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. COLOSSIANS 1:18 NIV
A human soul, or nephesh to use a Hebrew term, is the manifestation of God’s breath within a person. Like the life within a plant, it is not something you can find by dissecting the body. The evidence of its existence is in the fact it is alive. A person’s nephesh is who they are, their personality, their sense of humor, it is their sense of personhood, independent of the body and independent of the spirit.
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. HEBREWS 4:12 NIV
A human heart is a fleshy organ that has both a function in the NAPOX and a function in the SUPOX. In addition to its central role of powering the body, the heart provides a human with willpower and intentionality. It delivers the body energy and the soul motivation, the necessary elements for a person to seek life.
Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. PROVERBS 4:23 NKJV
