History
Technically speaking, the Guardian of Echoes and the Tirin Emperor were different titles at first. SO the Haloic Guardian of Tirin was the Guardian of Echoes before he abandoned his duty in that role. Ikiini filled the power vacuum and kept the authority from TaroNazdria inherent in the Guardian of Echoes role and then used that to become the Tirin Emperor.
After Ikiini seized the Falrinite stores that SO had previously protected, SO realized he could do the same thing Ikiini had done since he was more powerful than a Nazdria.
Cultural Significance
Initially there was confusion by the populace who hadn't realized SO had left. Chaos began to unfold as the truth emerged, but by then Ikiini's power was secured. Although it was a difficult season for the Tirinids, Ikiini did restore order even if it was a restless order. When SO aided Darren Cane's revolution, the people were completely divided. Most supported the revolution because of SO's previous standing as the Guardian of Echoes yet only in their hearts for fear of the Calri. The revolutionaries brought SO back only to realize the one aiding them would end up the same as their previous oppresors. The revolution would need to fight again.
