When interested in ones future, seeking a fortune teller allows one to become the Querent.

History

It all started off with the Whispering Deck. A magical deck of cards, that was scattered among many civilizations, as part of a desperate act from a now-nameless Old God to not die.
When the Cards scattered, some people made their own cards to combine them. There is a distinct difference between the newly made cards and the real cards, namely that the real cards will actively and purposely feed information to the Reader. They actively seek to further their own goals, such as being handed to individuals aligned with the cards coals.

Execution

A Reader, cleansed by the smoke of the incense they can see what the cards have to say about the future of the Querent. The tent is decorated with gifts from previous Readers and Querents, but unlike the Whispering Deck ritual, there are no witnesses to this ritual. Only the Querent and the Reader may enter the tent.
A thick heavy blanket of smoke and incense cleanse the tent of any influence that might object and clutter the reading of the cards. When the Reader considers the time right, which can be from a few seconds, to hours or even a few days, the Querent can sit at the table.
The Reader reveals a Whispering Deck. These cards contain each an image, a piece of the timeline of the Querent. If this is the past or future, or even the present, is up to the Reader to interpret.
The Deck is first shuffled by the Reader, and then cut by the Querent. The Querent takes as many cards as they want. Once taken, they may not be put back. Usually they take between 1 and 4 cards.
The Reader flips each card, and studies the image and reads upon them what they mean. This might reveal important information, or may reveal to the reader information about the Querent to prove the value of cards to come.
Although rare, each card has a small chance to be part of the Whispering Deck. Should the Reader touch a card which is part of the original Whispering Deck, the Card will consider if the Querent is able to further its goals, then they will compell the Reader to hand the card to the Querent.
